He didn't intend to but I heard he messed up something contractually. I think Catterall's next fight had to be Taylor or he was able to leave. Very bizarre from Shalom, similar to Billam-Smith's one of the first three fights having to be at the Vitality Stadium.
They're missing mainstream appeal in the stable, but those that can crossover are still early in their pro careers (Azim, Whittaker, possibly Clarke) and without boxxer gaining momentum, can see it getting stale...or staler, and these guys leaving. Shalom needs to matchmake smartly. Got very good fighters like Marku, Bakole and Riley that he's not using to their potential.
It seems like Ben Schlong is getting his plonker pulled by all these fighters and their management as they know how the game works better than he does. They're taking his relatively good nature for a ride. Ben is still feeling his way in and getting taken for a mug because he wants to please everyone. He'll soon realise that no one cares about each other in boxing. Every man for himself.
Ben Shalom said today that next week they are hoping to announce Savannah Marshall’s next fight and Smith Eubank Jr II. Apparently Richard Riakporhe will fight Goumalirian for his WBA World Title in France away from home. He also said they are planning to do a show in Belfast.
The Jack Massey fight was strange. I think they were hoping for it to make Parker look good and maybe KO him but it didn't happen.
Jack Catterall outside of the Taylor fight holds very little value, so him going to DAZN is not a real hit to Boxxer. Hopefully Eddie can get him going properly now, but he has been shockingly inactivate. Parker had a 2 fight deal with Sky and thats what he did- how anybody can say he’s pulled Bens pants down is bizzare. Boxxer would have taken their % for the Joyce fight and the hope was he would win so they could get the return, which would probably have added another fight to the deal. He got beaten down and smoked, so they made the Massey fight of their own choice and then the contract was over - no big deal.

Just for what it’s worth. They took circa £100k out of the Joyce fight. He was then paid £250k for a fight with Jack Massey. He sold on that fight precisely zero tickets. They lost over a six figure sum on him in 3 months and have nothing to show for it. He’s walking away on the up and ready for the next fringe shot and unless Ben pays even more money it’s not on Sky. It’s what is called throwing money down the drain.
You do know how much he earned in those 2 fights don't you ? HALF of his Massey purse (the smaller of the two purses) is not far off of the going rate for BOTH fights put together that he had with Boxxer.
He can't even claim the money was spent to keep eyes on SKY One fight on BT and the second tucked away against a fighter no casual knows
