I got love for both fighters, I think Tank is one of the hardest punchers in boxing today and can never be overlooked, but man Shakur looks to be on that level. A very good defensive fighter who knows his surroundings in the ring and is sharp as a knife. You can't discredit anything Tank has done this far, but I feel Shakur is the future of boxing and @135 given the opportunity would beat Tank straight up.
It’s plausible that Stevenson could beat everybody at 135 pounds but you can say the same thing about Tank and it’s more than plausible Tank puts Stevenson’s lights out.
Not if he can't hit him. There hasn't been a Fighter I can compare to Floyd in a more modern comparison, not Broner, not anybody. Shakur is the only fighter in recent memory that gives me those type of flashbacks. Shakur really is a special talent and is imo the best 135 pounder in the world.
That’s why I say it’s plausible he can beat everyone at the weight. However so can Tank who is very special as well.
Tank is talented and has power to bail him out of any situation, but when I say special, its a fighter who can adjust to any situation and has many avenues to win. Tank has power and experience, Shakur has everything else and will find a way to win. Hes far too talented imo.
I thought that too when I first saw Stevenson. I never got the Spence comparisons to Mayweather, they are nothing alike, Stevenson though has a bunch of technical skills similar to Mayweather, though I think Mayweather is faster, more powerful and had better movement and was also more willing to take risks in the ring at this stage of his career. But right now Stevenson is the closest thing we've seen to Mayweather.
It's a 50/50 fight, but Tank has more than power and experience. He has everything as well. He's a complete fighter who can switch up. Tank biggest strength is his patience and ability to stay calm, even if he's behind in a fight. That's what makes him dangerous, and a lot of people don't even realize it.
Tank's patience is one of his most underrated assets as a fighter, he's quite happy to lose most of a round to set up a few brutal counters and often ends up dictating the fight making guys take it too him and give up their height and reach. But Stevenson isn't any ordinary fighter. He's a very patient counter puncher too, he's great and drawing leads of making a fighter react, like feinting a jab to make a fighter move their head but then throws the rear hand to where their head moves to. I don't think Tank will be able to do what he usually does and win the battle of counter punchers here, in fact I think Stevenson dominates him, it's not a good style match up for him.
Tank is quick and has great boxing ability, instincts and timing. Tank’s power does not bail him out because he is not over reliant on it. He sets people up before he closes the show. Shakur’s talent is there for us to see. Both guys are special. The people wanted Garcia to be special and he is talented with some charisma but he is not special.
Tank can box off the backfoot, but his primary offense is this counter punching ability, and being able to explode at any given moment. Shakur imo can nullify that with his own Explosivness and ability to make adjustments on the fly. I think Davis though dangerous throughout would get picked apart by the speed, timing and accuracy of Shakur.
