Does Ryan Garcia have a future in boxing?

Bruce Seldon is his new trainer......

 

Not much of one, relatively speaking. He'll never be HOF anyway.

 

Some of the comments on here are laughable at times. Pretty sure the kid started boxing at seven. Won something like 15 american amatuer titles and ended with a 215-15 record. You dont do that if your a bit soft or not a serious boxer. I think he just came up against a better fighter last night. Tbf people have been talking about tank being a bit special for years. Hes beatable....but tbf he is a little bit special. Garcia can come again.

 

Yes, he wasn’t ready for this level of fight but if he dedicates himself and fights appropriate opposition, he could be ready in a couple years. You won’t see any more dehydration clauses in his future or fights at 135. He’s got to start over at 140 and avoid top guys for a few years. All the top guys at 140 beat him badly. He’s young and athletic but is limited offensively, and he has poor defense and some bad habits. We will see if he wants to be a great boxer or internet sensation.

 

That's all true; people are forgetting he's been fighting since he was 7.

However, two points I'd like to make:

1) Why is he still making serious defensive mistakes? For nearly 20 years no trainer has ever said to him "don't move straight back",
"tuck your chin down", "move your head once in freaking while". Or has he been told and he's not listening?

2) he has admitted to having depression issues.

If he can overcome those issues then sure, get back in the ring. If not, stop. And someone will have to tell him to stop.
Plenty of movies, commercials, Dancing with the Stars etc. to many money in.

Just terrible. His trainers have let him down. It looks like he learned about balance and footwork and defense by banging away with combinations on a heavybag. Straight up with his chin in front of his knees. Goosen should have spotted that right away.

Did Ryan really say he got bored?

Perhaps the Spies in camp were correct when it was said Ryan got dropped & knocked out in sparring, yikes.

 

The Cool & Chill Denim wearing Goosen, paychecks at this point for him & didn't Joe just recently say he's going to say what he needs too here & there but Ryan's IQ is just higher than Davis's & that Ryan doesn't really need much from me, i'm paraphrasing.

Absolutely. I think he will feel and box better at 140.

 

He's a crook. If he was a doctor he would be sued for malpractice.

 

Aren't almost all Doctors just that especially the so called Specialist who charge you loads just to tell you nothing that you didn't already know, who knew.
