They both fight once every two years and when they finally do fight it’s against rubbish opposition. There both going to end up retiring with no legacy and not even that much money compared to other fighters. Seriously what is wrong with them?
Nothing wrong with Spence who has made serious money. The issue is Crawford who is reluctant to make the fight.
I see it a bit differently, literally the only fight left for either of them to have is against each other. Crawford isn't young, had a whole bunch of fights against top ranked opponents in 3 different weight divisions. Spence has a few more years in him to give but he's been clearing out the division for the last 5-6 years....who's there left to fight at 147 other than Bud? Thurman? That'll probably happen next as it's been ordered, who else?
Call me silly but I only blame Spence for this fight not having taken place. As for money, it comes and goes. If you have 5m$ in assets then hell do you have to worry about? If you are in that situation then it's probably better to focus on your physical and mental health instead of making a few million more.
4 of Spence's last 5 opponents were all top 10 ranked WW's (Two of the fights as unifications, one p4p elite, 2 very well known names and a dark horse who retired one of the greatest fighters of all time). Now I admit the frequency of him fighting is questionable but his opposition isn't rubbish. As for Crawford (and I'm still a big fan), his resume is a bit more questionable.
Not sure I'd only blame Spence but Haymon always makes me wary. I get the feeling that Crawford views boxing as just his job and is less interested in a legacy. That's his prerogative, however crazy talented he is.
I think it's difficult to argue against prioritising enjoying your life over being in the history books. If he's to continue being great at his job then there should be a great opponent coming. The very definition of clown sounds more like the boxers who prioritise all the bull**** in boxing atm. All that bull**** unfortunately seems to dictate which fights get made, and they're often not the best fights or the fights that boxing fans want.
No it’s not. What’s the point of watching boxing if all the athletes are just prioritising having a nice life and not worrying about entertaining us or building a legacy. We all might as well stop watching boxing is this is the case.
If you're a great boxer that delivers in the ring and the best fighters are made to face each other then your legacy is inevitable. That's not the state of boxing atm. The promoters, TV platforms and mainstream media seem to be more focused on that quick click-bait money. Not to mention the boxers piggybacking the current system to coast along with bloated resumes and biased judges delivering terrible decisions. Until this changes then there'll continue to be youtubers and only fans gulping up the revenue from boxing and stealing the focus. But still, if a boxer decides to fight with a low output of fights without ducking or hoodwinking the fans then that's their prerogative. Basically the best need to be made to face the best.
I see them being part of a different era. Boots Ortiz Benn etc are 2020-2030 Spence Crawford Garcia Thurman Pacman etc are your 2010-2020
