Garcia won nothing notable as an amateur.

Best wins as a pro Campbell, who was beaten twice and had an eye on retiring and Fortuna who had multiple losses.



Khan silver Olympic medal as an amateur.



Pro world titles with some top notch wins.



Not even in the same league. Boxing has levels. If you're judging on personalities then this sport is not for you.

Khan lost 6 times and got dropped about 20 times, fought in 4 divisions was knocked out in all 4 of them and only won a world title in the weakest of the 4, all whilst probably being on peds. Losing to complete bums like Prescott embarrassingly in 50 seconds. (and Limond - 15 second count). And Peterson, Ryan Garcia would absolutely smoke a guy like Peterson with ease.

Both are flawed fighters, too early to compare as Garcia is young but they do have plenty of similarities. But still I doubt Ryan Garcia will have as many laugh out loud moments as the manufactured product who failed Amir Khan, and he'll probably achieve more than Khan as he has more talent.

 

Ryan Garcia would be lucky to be one tenth of the fighter Amir Khan was. Garcia has only fought 2 guys who were there to actually try to win: he got dropped hard by one of them, and one-shot KO'd by the other (some would say he quit).

Khan has about 100 times the heart as well. I'm not even a Khan fan, the guy is a celebrity diva with IQ lower than his age, but comparing a nobody like Garcia who has accomplished nothing in the sport of boxing, to Olympic medallist and former unified world champion Khan is insulting.

 

Only muppets laugh out loud at boxers who get dropped or lose by KO.

Khan's silver medal. Winning the WBA and IBF title at lightweight. Trumps anything Garcia has done so far. So the comparison is a joke.

If you don't understand levels in boxing then maybe you should educate yourself rather than looking foolish my friend.

Silver medal? You really think Garcia couldn`t have beat tyhe amateurs Khan was fighting at the olympics? Garia never got stopped by Presscot and he beat Cambell who was a former olympic gold medalist.

 

Khan was knocked out by a lightweight but Garcia hasn`t been, he lost to a body shot but got off the floor v a huge puncher.

 

Are you that thick you don't realise there's weak champions and weak divisions. In a sport of 17 weight divisions, plenty of guys like Khan become 'world champ' it means **** all. Khan is an absolute BUM, laughing stock joke who hasn't won a world title fight since 2010 and he's only just retired. In most divisions at most times and without his manufacturing, a multi flawed loser like that would never have picked up a title.

You have very low standards and overrate him probably cause you're the same background as him. You're talking like Khan is Usyk/Lomachenko level of achievement. Get in the real world you deluded clown, Khan is known as a JOKE in boxing.

You have no brain cells, Ryan Garcia is 24 years old, any comparison right now is stupid as he has another decade left. It wouldn't take much for him to surpass a mediocre boxer like Amir Khan lol. Get back to driving your taxi.

I'm not even a fan of Khan and he's like an ATG in the game compared to Garcia.
Garcia has accomplished almost nothing at the moment and the biggest issue that he seems mentally fragile. Khan may have got ass-whoopings but always came back and fought some monsters. Garcia's fighting spirit was done in the Tank fight and he may never want any part of it again.

Hopefully he's able to adjust things and also fight at the rights weight where his chin might be better. On the other hand, he'll be fighting bigger and more powerful men as he moves up. Too early to write him off, has a long way to go and learn if he's willing. There's potential, at his best he can throw some impressive combos and hooks but the jab and right are way underdeveloped & he's predictable to the better boxers.

I think his team are a bunch of dumbasses too. I watched his chubby trainer/mitt man during the pre-fight workout and he was holding the mitts way up high in the air and Ryan was punching up. Did these fools realize Tank is about 5'2" lol, and he squats low during fights. No wonder Ryan couldn't even touch him with the hooks. His height and reach became a huge disadvantage because he doesn't stay back but falls in, he wasn't setting right hand when Tank came in and missed, and he was clueless as to how to box after he got dropped. Like how an amateur freezes when they haven't got the skills embedded yet in the neuro-muscular pathways.

 

Ryan Garcia is literally a 15 time national amateur champion with a record of 215-15. A record cut short by going pro at 17, he's no olympic medalist but his amateur record is nothing to scoff at. Hell he went 3-3 with devin haney
