Rob Tebit mush be a rich kid or have serious backers . What does this mean for Boxing News magazine I wonder ? This content is protected
They have good backing. Pretty certain Tebbutt mentioned they have venture capital backing when ID was launched. Assuming the magazine is profit-making: this seems like a sensible link-up. ID Boxing show professionalism and have a much stronger journalistic angle than the likes of IFL. The rigour and cachet of the Boxing News name is also significant. I hope this means they stick around as an increasingly credible rival to outlets who just act as a loudspeaker for promoters.
I like this. I have no idea what it means for BN though. They better not put up my £9.99 BN subscription!
My BN subscription is £19.99 per quarter which I think it excellent value. Works out at £1.54 an issue and it’s delivered to my house.
I really like BN despite not having a subscription. Hope this doesn't mean Castillo is going to start appearing in it with a big man ting column or something
This could weaken BN in the long run both from an impartiality perspective and also they lose the backing of a big media group (Kelsey iirc)
I bought Razzle last week mate, was nervous going in but the cashier pretended it was as innocent as Farmers Weekly.
I listened to the first BN/ID podcast this evening. All ID is now a part of Boxing News. I think it is a great sign that ID have adopted all BN branding and not the other way round. There was genuine respect from Rob Tebbutt and Andy Clarke in how they spoke of BN and they understand the history of a boxing magazine that has been with us 114 years. For what it is worth (definitely very little considering it's me spouting) I feel than Boxing News is in safe hands. The editor of BN Christie seemed genuinely enthused. I am excited about this. Not as excited as I am about a new Razzle publication, but still excited.
I also watched it yesterday and came away thinking the exact same. Good move by all involved it seems !
