The imbalance of boxing

1 belt per division, best fight the best. Too many paper champs and BS rankings.

 

1 belt per lb division fixes most things because it eliminates majority of all bad matchmaking...since youre either champ or youre not.

Next up would be judging but belts are most important tbh

 

The better boxers need to stop being robots outside of the ring

 

Fury exiting the American market has left a blackhole which cannot be replaced

Th ey are trying to angle Davis but he aint got any drawing power. They cant get Crawfish and Spence together for $50m which is basically chump change. Rich venue power brokers dont see any money in anyone either. Vegas should be gagging.

 

It can't be fixed. Money is the big motivator. Promoters get these guys big money fights quicker than before. 10 fights in and guys are making millions. What young fighter is gonna reject that. Promoters making millions off fighters sooner and for a longer period of time. The only way is to stop watching and paying for bad fights and fight cards. But that won't happen.

 

Not screwing the little guy. Just saying that a fight between 2 guys that have not done anything in the sport yet just sold 1.2 mil PPV. Alexis Arguello and Aaron Pryor was on regular TV. The standards have changed, not for the better and fans are paying way more to watch.

 

There are good fights to be made, but they won't be on regular TV like the good ol days.

 

It's in part a reflection of how culture has changes with reality TV, social media and the growing infatuation with celebrity. People are just way more willing to share their personal lives and fans more hungry to know what celebrities do outside of working.

Boxing due to it's failures to become more organised and professional like other sports means it's difficult for it to compete with other sports so some boxers now more than ever need to promote themselves and share their lives outside of the ring to get noticed because the sport itself is doing a poor job to promote itself in most countries to potential boxing fans.

So for it to change, boxing needs to be more centralised and organised, made more professional to make it a more accessible sport to watch for sports fans. It needs to make a product that is consistent and reliable and give the fans what they want so there's more focus on the actual boxing than the drama between fights. But that isn't going to happen unless all the sanctioning bodies and big promoters get around a table and decide to work together to form one single boxing entity to sell it's product to media outlets. Which is as likely to happen as Andy Ruiz Jr to get down to under 10% body fat.
