Prime Ali vs prime Holmes in Zaire. 15 rounds.

Both men are required to fight as much as possible like Joe Frazier.

Eddie Futch is standing ringside. If Futch concludes that a contestant's mimicry of Frazier's style falls below the minimum standard of Frazierness, the unFrazierly boxer will be disqualified.

Rounds will be scored on the 10 point system. However, an extra point will be awarded each round to the boxer who better imitated Frazier that round.

    Who wins?

I'm going to need your opinion on the winner first CT, even if it's a one word answer

I think it is fair to say that the fight will be won by the unfrazierly behavior rule. One of them will eventually have to turn to their old habits. Who will break first? I am not sure.

Peak Muhammad Ali of 1967, we never got to see Ali's prime, he was stripped of his title and boxing license in April 1967. In 1974 Ali was hardly in his prime, the year before he had his jaw broken by Ken Norton, the peak Ali was hardly ever touched as champion from 1964-1967.

I think by about the fifth round both of their backs would be killing them

Ali is the more versatile and adaptable - he would be a better Frazier than Larry could ever dream of being.

Larry did try to be Ali and failed in that regard after all. Ali was a very good Cassius Clay also.

    I don’t think Larry’s Frazier could carry Ali’s Frazier’s jockstrap.

    Ali’s Frazier FTW.

Agreed. Besides being a half level better, Ali's hook, which was hardly a showcase was still better than Holmes which was almost non existent.

Sorry, tried to vote but it appears there is no poll feature to accomodate my selection. No offence CT, but it seems you’re a bit rusty.

Yes. Also probably more durable, better stamina for high activity, younger during his best years, head movement might be an easier adaptation, and willing to keep stubbornly doing stuff that involved getting battered, like the rope-a-dope in later life.

Beyond all that, Ali was a performer and showman more than Holmes. I could see Ali getting into the spirit of this ridiculous contest more than Holmes. And I could also see Ali making it a point to be better at "being Frazier" than the actual one.

EDIT: Although I don't see as much of a gap between Ali and Holmes in quality as many others do.

Ali was only a half level better than Holmes in your opinion? I think he had a good level or two.
