What if Archie Moore had trained Tyson instead?

I didn't know D'Amato or Moore so I have no idea who would be more likely to connect with Tyson and keep him out of trouble. The boxing difference would be in being taught the D'Amato style as opposed to a conventional boxing style by most others. I'm not sold on the D'Amato style, few use it and the footwork, hand placement, seem awkward to me. Maybe that style is what made Tyson such a force, but he'd probably have been a force using a conventional boxing style too. Somebody mentioned that Moore might have given Tyson a Plan B, but with Tyson's height and reach, he would probably be limited as far as a Plan B.

Tyson might have been even more effective using a conventional boxing style. He would have been harder to push back because with his right foot back he would have a stronger base. He had a good jab, good right hand, hook, and uppercut...all the punches, IMO all of those punches would be even more effective from a conventional base. He slipped punches well, he was quick, when he was well conditioned, he didn't lack anything other than height and length.

People might be thinking that Moore would have Tyson use the cross arm guard. If Tyson used that he might lose the effectiveness of his left hook, I don't see how the hook could be as quick or effective coming from low across his body as it would be from higher. Tyson had good defense with his quickness, rolling, and slipping, all of that would also work well from a more conventional stance. If Tyson had the same level of conditioning, the same level of training, and the same motivation as he did when D'Amato was living, he would have probably been an even better fighter without the D'Amato style. I suspect that Moore would not have tried to make Tyson use the cross arm, he'd probably prefer that Tyson have the nice left hook.

Only trouble is Richard, no matter how much advice you get in terms of women, you hardly ever take any notice as your dick is in control. Losing Cus and then the sentence because of that set Tyson on the road to destruction. Moore was a man of the world and because he loved boxing history, would that have made Tyson listen more? Against that you've got a bitter man just out of jail who might not listen to anybody.
