I would wonder why so many fights between superstars are so boring.

 

I'd ask whether their template to fix Foreman-Frazier I was taken from the fight between Cool Hand Luke and Dragline.

You'd question how smart the fixers were since, as one poster already noted, there was so much money left on the table in many situations. Couldn't they think things through at least a little better?

Then you'd wonder how many fixed fights didn't go as planned and when somebody went "rogue" and didn't follow the script. That would be a complicated rabbit hole of a maze to stumble into.

Then you'd wonder why so many fighters ended up dying in the ring or ending up with irreversable brain damage for a worked sporting event. Somebody didn't smarten Duk-Koo Kim up? It'd make the tragedies even more tragic and unnecessary as there was nothing to risk so much for.

Then you'd come to the conclusion that Bruce "The Mouse" Strauss was the smartest one in the game all along.

In a sense I think we live in this world already accept it covers everything not just boxing. Don't get me wrong I am not a conspiracy nutter myself but considering what many people believe for example regarding 9/11, Covid and the last US election we see perception and fact colliding and quite often facts and science are outgunned.

Not sure if it has crossed over to US and rest of world but I recommend watching UK documentary maker Adam Curtis' film Hypernormalisation which outlines why things are so confusing and crazy these days. Your thread made me think of it!

 

Well if every boxing match is a hoax then it probably doesent stop there. I would lose confidence that anything is real at all and down the rabbit hole we go.
