Lol one way or another, the fight was never gonna be made, who here really believed that the fight was ever gonna go ahead? Shalom was stupid enough to pull out of negotiations when the belt was probably gonna be vacated anyway had the purse bids gone ahead. HW boxing summed up. A pathetic division ruined by promoters as much as it is by the boxers themselves.
Its a tough one for him, he must feel massively let down by his promoter here. It really isn't a good look for Boxxer at all the way this has been handled. But as disappointed as he must be right now, whats his alternative. Where does he go to, if he goes to BT his audience will be slashed, if he goes to DAZN it will be almost non existant with the exception of a pocket of hard-core fans. His professional career is in its early stages, he is going to need a watching audience to build a big following
He will have a bigger audience on any of DAZNs shows in comparison to that card on June 10th. Heard Buatsi had less than 50k viewers at the weekend. That’s some audience. Just because a network has millions of football fans subscribed to it. It doesn’t mean they will watch dross like Clarke vs Harry Armstrong
How many subscribers UK does DAZN have? Serious question, it would be interesting to know but you never see anything published anywhere. The only time you tend to hear any numbers are from people with a source as solid as 'trust me bro'
Shalom is out his depth Hearn started putting pressure on him weeks ago and he’s cracked , he doesn’t have the charisma or the back bone to stand up to Hearn and Warren.
UK boxing is in the toilet. Cross promotional politics and gossip get more attention than actual fights. It's all very dull.
You will never get a confirmed number until the company was waken public. but from what I was last told post price increase it was sat at somewhere between 300-350k. Fluctuates fight to fight and month to month. Maybe trust me bro sources like you say
Kinda makes sense as when Hearn said 'several hundred thousand' that was after the increased subs from the AJ fight. I would like to know the US numbers as Hearn last week said DAZN USA is profitable. Didn't think they would get profitable in the US until they got one of the core US sports.
i know they broke a million in the US some time ago. With the new pricing structure in the US it made them profitable going forward.
And presumably having the likes of Canelo on PPV brings in good short-term revenue plus a wider base to offer people deals. That, and access through regular platforms like Sky, hasn't really got going in the UK yet. Presumably needs a bigger AJ fight than the Franklin one to really settle in.
