How exactly was the division saved?
    Fury buggered off into alcoholism.
    Wilder continued crushing bums.
Rest of the titles were scattered.

How was post 2015 any better than before? At least we had a clear champion who was consistently fighting the number 1 contenders(sprinkled in were some mandatory bums).
    Now we have neither.
The top names barely fight each other and we have no clear number one.

    Schmeling won faking the foul.

Worst champ was Seldon, close thread.

The Tyson fight was sort of a dive...at least an abject surrender.

I remember watching that fight live at 12 years old thinking WTF was that? I remember my dads friends were saying he took a dive, and I agree looking back all these years that Seldon took a dive no doubt. Tyson was a scary man post prison, I can't blame him lol. Trinidad on the under card was the highlight of the entire card imo.

Years ago someone on here described it as "Seldon went down after a brutal left hook to his hair..."

    About right.

There was a time when, if the HW champ said something big was coming or some similar statement, one tended to believe it.

Now, I am not claiming all rose-tinted ATGs were perfect & surely a lie or three has been told over the years. But generally, there was real reason for excitement because something big was almost sure to happen. Nowadays one reads whatever bs is coming outta their mouths and doesn't know if it's to be believed.

It seems the game is to stay in the media some way but at least something real would've been nice.

I don't even know if the year end double header is real or not? Anyone know if that is a definite?

Far from Fury's fan club president or anything but he's >>>> Stiverne and Martin, just from within the last decade or so.

edit: just saw your weird distinction in the OP. There is no such thing as "recognized" champion - technically all the ABC titlists are recognized as world champs. One can either be lineal and/or unified or undisputed, or not. If you mean "is Fury the worst (insert either of those)?", say that.

There was a time when the whole country knew who the HW champ was. Now less than ten percent of the country knows who any active boxer is.

That would be Fury's only saving grace, a big money fight at years end. Then all the nonsense he is doing is somewhat justified and can be forgiven. 90+ million.... yeah, I'd tell a lie or 2.

Unless Fury does something, he'll unlikely go down as the worst, but more a wasted opportunity of a HW.

i think so. all things considered. winning the title in one of the worst professional fights i have ever seen, the peds, the drugs, the lying, the ducking, the laughable opposition, etc...
