well, if hes as big as the pre-emptive excuses are making him, he should look a zombie tomorrow, having to cut so much weight. youth is no antidote to dehydration.

    Thanks.

Loma was ''too small and too old'' in 2020 but apparently not in 2023

The hugging video was atrocious, too.

    No excuses from both.

Loma beat bigger guys and Haney still should be able to make 135 pounds

I just want to see good clean fight with no BS from ref.

No one and obviously this version of Loma is not the same version of a few years ago. There's a lot of wishful thinking coming from my fellow Loma fans. He looked terrible in his last fight, by far the worst he's ever looked in any fight amateur or pro, like a pale shadow of his former self and he's had longer spells of inactivity than that before. He looked so bad I can't even watch it again and I can typically watch his fights dozens of times. Even against Teofimo in the second half of the fight he looked way better than that.

I meant bigger than Loma himself, but he also beat Nakatani, who is as tall as Beterbiev.

It's possible that the war in Ukraine distracted him from training, I guess. From the camp footage I've seen, he looks very focused for this fight - but whether that will be enough to overcome the age and weight disparity is anyone's guess. I will say that lesser fighters, e.g. George Kambosos and JoJo Diaz, have been able to back Haney up and hit him with short shots. That is Loma's best chance at victory.

In that case fair enough, but I don't like the way 'excuse' is thrown around these days. The fact that one fighter has a massive weight advantage over another, and that it will probably contribute to his winning the fight, is not an 'excuse' but a simple observation. It's a basic factor you have to take into account when comparing combat athletes.

Just changed the poll end time (now that at last the penny's dropped and I've figured out how to do that  :sisi1) so that people can vote until nearly the opening bell on Saturday night.

    That is a wild stat.

There can't have been too many lightweights at (or within a fraction of an inch of) six feet...besides Nak, as far as guys of enough notability to have fought on TV, we had that guy Robert Manzanárez that held Mercito Gesta to a MD a few years ago but, can't think of any others.

Haney is the rightful favorite. He's taller, longer, heavier, and nearly a decade younger. Haney losing would indeed be a surprise. Nonetheless I voted Loma and hope he can turn back the clock once.

Haney annoys me and he shouldve been KTFO against Linares had the ref not been corrupt

I don't place much importance at all on how aged fighters look in camp. Povetkin looked really good hitting the pads when he fought Whyte and then come fight night he looked like a walking corpse. I've been a huge fan of Loma since 2008 and I've seen him at his brilliant best in the major tournaments, WSB and as a pro and his last fight, as said, is by far the worst I've ever seen him look. He was having trouble pulling the trigger like he used to which is always a bad sign with an aged fighter.

People acting like 35 isn't very old for a natural 126 pounder and obviously having over 400 amateur fights and training like a lunatic for over 30 years isn't going to take a huge toll on your body. Weird how Floyd was past his prime at 36, Roy was shot to bits at 35, Clenelo is past his prime at 32 and lost because the way bigger Bivol had a whopping 3-5lbs in weight on him and a 1.5 reach advantage but blown up 126 pounder Loma is still in his prime at 35 and the massive size disadvantage of Haney weighing three divisions more than him and having a close to six inches reach advantage on him isn't actually a size disadvantage at all compared to Bivol vs Clenelo

So are you faithless in Vasyl altogether, @Serge? Or holding off to await the final details (re: officials and weigh-in) being announced before you vote?
