Okay, this is my really painfully average write up of the 6 sounds I can be bothered to watch so far. I have spent so much time with Evander and Larry Holmes I am going to call this a date, although I am more third wheeling. I picked a fight where I might see some stuff to pick up from Evadner and very quickly I realised I was in for about an hour of Holmes rolling like Limpbizkit. I will upload the rest of the rounds soon enough and if Holmes wins somebody better inform him a real authority of the sport thinks he was at one point the oldest HW champion in the world at one point.

    Holyfield vs Holmes

    Round 1- Holmes

1st Round Holmes lands a right hand at the midway mark to the side of the temple, pecks a lot and Evander comes out strong but the left hook, right hand he throws in slow motion seems to have all the moxie taken off it. At 1:36-ish Holy nearly lands another right but Larry deflects and rolls with it. Larry shoves a jab down the pipe shortly afterwards, return fire from Holyfield but it’s all fluff and a light right uppercut, Larry is really deflecting a lot of the shots with his outreached arms and I am surprised Holyfield didn’t drop any right hands over it. For the most part Evander landed less cleanly, if it all and Larry was steadier and more accurate, the right hand down the throat to close the round didn’t hurt either.

    Round 2- Holmes

Evander really flails here at the start and Holmes just flaps his arms the way he does and slaps all the shots away harmlessly. What’s hurting him is he’s not overly busy. Watching the exchange from 2:30 to 2:20 In slow motion really made me appreciate how tough it can be for a judge at times, Holy doesn’t land much but watching passively without slowing it down, I might have just given that spot to Evander. There are long stretches of no one scoring and Evander isn’t exactly being “effectively aggressive” his cross guard is a little leaky and Holmes scored multiple right uppercuts and straights every time he just laid there doing a Walmart Moore impression, I chalked them up as the only damaging punches I spotted. The inside fighting on display here is very modern…

    Round 3- Holmes

Mostly the same as round 1 and 2 till 1:41 and I might get controversial here but Holmes rolls with a perceived to be heavy right, everything subsequent of that and contrary to the commentator’s initial reaction seems to be harmless. Evander peppers him a little but the pace and sense of urgency by Holy has remained about the same (They even note it’s not such a big shot during the slow mo at intermission) which makes me think I am right. This isn’t too hard round to score and Holmes closes well with some stinging, crisp, clean shots.

    Round 4- Holmes

I came into watching this bout to look for things to say about Evander. This entire time I have been thinking about just how little gets through Holmes arms, he intercepts everything so cleanly and I can’t believe it, during slow mo re runs of what I thought were winning exchanges by Holyfield Ol Peanut head is denying everything. Larry lands all the cleanest and clearest punches this round and Evander while he might’ve landed more than usual it’s still questionable if it’s damaging, clean or even making contact with Larrys walnut.

    Round 5- Draw

I don’t think either guy seized the momentum, Holy might’ve with his workrate and Holmes with his clean punching but neither one to me claimed ownership of round 5. I got to say, Holmes just about wears riot shields instead of meat tubes here.

    Round 6- Holyfield

I’d say Holmes landed one big one this entire round, Holy kind of just threw so much more it was hard to say “Oh but that one right hand was sweet” It’s the same story this round so I won’t write anything, Holmes just does his whole zombies hands out there akido 1000 hand blocking and Evander lands in volume but in slow mo you sit there and say “Maybe that doesn’t count- and maybe Holmes should’ve been champion again”

    Stay tuned

Holmes didn`t land much in that fight and was just spoiling, it was a very boring fight.

In these first six rounds of which I have watched so very slowly- Larry Holmes is the only one landing worthwhile shots, Evander has landed nothing worthy, if barely at all landed.

It was the French painter Fruille Frufaux that made the painting titled "Succulent Idiot" and that reference does not go above me, Journey. Nice.

Watch the fight Mark, watch it like I have watch it in slow motion. It’s like pulling teeth but it’s clear Larry lands more often and more cleanly. Evander lands scantly and ineffectively.

Holmes convinced me in this fight he would 100% beat Evander in his prime

I am pretty sure that he was born in Kansas. What point were you trying to make?

Okay, so round 7 was relatively easy to score. I scored it for Evander, similar reasons to one of the above I can’t just say “Oh but that one sweet right hand” when Evander was doing all the tangoing in this round, Holmes seems to be taking a breather this round. Again, Evander is landing, very, very little and even less of those are good shot.

    7- Evander Holyfield
