Tank Haney is a 50-50. Haney has more skills, but Tank has the power and a better chin. He definitely cannot brawl with Tank...he couldn't brawl with the much older and smaller Loma. But if he fights the right fight and makes no mistakes, he can get a (legit) points victory.
LOL Ward only had 9 fights in Oakland. A few fights in San Jose CA which is about 40 miles from Oakland and Lemoor CA which is about 200 miles from Oakland. He had a total of 14 fights between those 3 cities. The next closest is maybe Carson CA Which is almost 400 miles away from Oakland. Stop saying Oakland and just say the US.
At the very least Haney should humble himself and admit that Loma took him to school and thank him for the education. All that talk about being younger, bigger, faster, stronger and does everything better........he needs to man up, tell the truth and publicly thank Loma for the gift he received and apologize for pushing his professor before class.
7 years later we still remember the Kovalev-Ward robbery and 6 years later, we still remember the first Golovkin-Canelo robbery. Rest assured, no one will forget this one either, except the ones in denial of reality, who've convinced themselves Haney won it. But indefatigable relentless Loma fans won't let them.
In Australia we still have not forgot Jeff Fenech getting robbed against Nelson. True fans do not forget these things. Only dishonest people are happy to sweep robberies under the rug and leave them there.
Boxing fans like us won't forget, but the record will remain Loma's loss. In a few years, casual fans won't watch the fight and will judge it by the results. The problem is, there are far more casual fans than true boxing fans.
There doesn't seem to be a viable path for Loma at the moment at 135. Haney will never rematch him and I don't fancy Loma's chances against Shakur after he spanks Haney
I think there should be a rematch, the fight ended with a lot of questions that need to be answered. I thought Loma won by a couple of rounds in fairly clear fashion, but it was a closely contested fight. I would not call it a robbery, but Loma definitely deserves another shot at the title, preferably somewhere other than the US and without American judges, as neutral as possible. I still can't find out why & how the weigh-in was allowed so early?
Have at it if that makes you happy. Haney won the records show it and I scored it for him as well. I am not trying to convince and you certainly cannot convince me otherwise.
Loma looked great! Should fight on. Speed of hand and foot looked near prime. 130lbs or wait for those belts to disperse at 135. He's a live dog versus anyone 135 or under. A real specimen
