I agree. He is a big ticket seller. They need to try and get him into a position for the British Heavyweight belt. Fabio Wardley is the current champ. He's had 16 fights but seems in such a completely different league to Fisher.
He is very young, about 24? He didn’t have more than 10 amateur fights which were at a low level. There’s no need to rush him.
Dubois didn’t sell a load of tickets though as in he didn’t have a huge niche fan base like Fisher does. Dubois was also being heavily hyped at the time and they felt they he could beat Joyce but got it terribly wrong. That’s why we haven’t seen Dubois put in with anyone of any quality since, which I don’t have a problem with since he’s still young and raw for a heavyweight. Hearn and Matchroom know Fisher has limited quality so they won’t put him in with anyone with a chance of beating him as long as he’s selling tickets. I’d rather he not fight on the main broadcast but that’s just the sport. I think his ceiling is British level at best.
So what your saying is that Matchroom choose mismatches by deliberately avoiding any kind of challenge or risks that their fighters would lose. Interesting. Exactly the type of fights that lead to very weak cards Well......who would of thought it.......has the penny dropped for you now?
Patience is OK if fighters are genuinely developing but there is too much avoidance and stagnation in careers. Fisher should be ready to fight for the British Title within 10 pro fights if his match making was progressive. Far too many these days have a 100% winning record after 10 fights beating the same level of journeyman. Look at Hughie Fury once described by Peter Fury as the future youngest heavyweight champion of the world - 26 fights later and all he has to show at World Level is a defeat against Joe Parker nearly 6 years ago. Fisher's level to me looks like he could be evenly matched in decent fights against Prize Fighters such as Paul Gallen from Oz.
Genuinely class Tommy Fury as more of a legitimate boxer than this guy. He’s the circus media of boxing.
After he struggled against career journeyman Gabriel Enguema, they realized that it was too risky putting him in against someone who thought about throwing anything back, so yeah Baaaaasssssh!
