1974 Roberto Hands Of Stone Duran vs Devin Haney at 135 lbs, 15 rounds. Duran won the WBA title with a TKO 13 of champion Ken Buchanan on June 26 1972. He defended his title 12 times including a TKO 12 of WBC Champion Esteban De Jesus on Jan 21 1978 to unify the title. Duran defended against the likes of Ray Lampkin, Vilomar Fernandez, Lou Bizzaro, Leoncio Ortiz, Guts Ishimatso, Hector Thompson, Edwin Viruet, and De Jesus. Could Haney fight Duran the way he fought Loma and win?

Duran would maul Haney, and this is coming from someone who thinks that Haney won pretty handily on Saturday.

His infighting is completely non existent in comparison to Duran's, I genuinely think he will make Haney look like an amateur.

Plus Duran was meaner, a former street fighter from the streets of Panama. Duran wanted to kill most of his opponents in the ring at 135 lbs, remember Lightning Ray Lampkin in March 1975? Duran said that if he had been in better shape, he would have sent Lampkin to the morgue instead of the hospital.

Bloodbath. Duran would be too much for Haney...way too much imo.

What do you have against Devin Haney? He doesn't deserve this punishment.

While Haney does have talent, he has no particular skill strong enough to bother or stop Roberto Duran. After seeing Jorge Linares hurt Haney and Lomachenko cause him major problems late in their bout I can only see Duran stopping Haney about midway through the fight.

Because I want to see if Haney is pound for pound the best at 135 lbs.

Though Duran wasn't the complete product he'd become from say 1977 to 1980. Haney hasn't shown anything that would make any reasonable and knowledgeable student of the sport he'd be able to compete with Duran.
Duran in 1974 would still be to much for Haney, Duran by ko with in 8-9 rds.
    Duran in 1977-78? He'd Ko's Haney with in 5rds.....
And That maybe me being generous. Haney hasn't seen anything close to prime Roberto Duran.
Durans ability to fight aggressively, masterful infighting, yet be totally defensively sound is something not seen in today's boxing.
    Haney would get massacred.

Flash24, With all due respect, Roberto Duran at 135 lbs reached his complete peak at 135 lbs in 1978, when he kayoed WBC Champion Esreban De Jesus in the twelfth round to unify the titles, as he grew in weight in my opinion he was not as devastating as he was at 135 lbs, it's like saying Muhammad Ali was at his best in Zaire instead of against Ernie Terrell in Feb 1967.

The best ever??? Perhaps you should let him work his way up. I'd say Haney and Edwin Rosario would be interesting.

Got to go Rosario, look at the way he destroyed Livingston Bramble in Sept 1986.

Rosario was really good, a bit inconsistent, but at his best he was really good.

El Chapo Rosario's right hand had some pop to it, remember the way he staggered Hector Macho Camacho in June 1986, Hector started to be gun shy in the rest of his bouts.
