Honest????????? Perhaps, perhaps not. Neither you nor i know the inner workings enough to know beyond any semblance of doubt i would say. I've seen some good oil that he did and some good oil that he didn't. It's not something i would ever lose any sleep over let it be said. I have no doubt at all Foreman wanted to fight him. That's obvious.
Did you ever, Mr. JT, at any part of your life, think Tyson ducked Foreman? Now testify young yeoman!!
To me the fact that Foreman couldn't stop Lou Savarese, Crawford Grimsley, showed me that maybe Foreman's punch wasn't quite what it was anymore. Foreman hit Savarese with everything but the kitchen sink and couldn't come close to stopping him.
Huh ? All I said was Foreman's power had diminished in his last 3 fights probably due to his age, I don't think Grimsley or Savarese go the distance with Foreman in late 80s or early 90s.
When I watched it again recently it was closer than I remembered, I had it 7-5 for Foreman but I can't see 7 rounds for Briggs in that fight for him to get the nod. I thought Savarese had a good case to beating Foreman that fight was razor thin close, infact I think he had better case than what Briggs did.
Foreman jabbed and moved forward but Briggs landed more and harder power punches. The judges were the only ones with a ringside view who were paid to score it. Briggs’ power probably left an impression.
This is how i scored all of Foreman's controversial decisions in 90s when i went back and rewatched them last year. Well, no, you didn't mention his age - but I did - and, that was the point really. I find it noteworthy that Foreman's performances, when he was aged 48, and in the final year of his extended career, are still being discussed in quite specific detail.
Since you quoted me above, my citation of Briggs was pretty limited. He was a superheavyweight, and Foreman beat him. (A very, very old Foreman...)
