Who do you hope wins on July 29, 2023?

This is not a thread asking you to pick the winner. It's asking you who do you HOPE wins.

    #SpenceCrawford

A win would really cement Crawford's legacy. I like both fighters, but since Crawford comes across as a good guy and decent family man, I'll be rooting for him.

Nice to see the good sportsmanship with these two fighters.

Don't care a ton, but probably Spence since he & I are both from the South.

I don't care who wins, just as long as the fight is actually a good one and the wait was all worth it. I'm just glad that it's becoming a reality.

I like both of them too but I feel like Crawford is closer to having a great legacy, and since those are very difficult to come by, it makes me want to see him win slightly more, maybe, if that makes sense. They're both excellent. I've been more invested in Crawford also, because I've been following him longer and with more interest. I think he makes a more vulnerable welterweight though, and I am not sure about him getting hit by somebody like Spence. Crawford has plenty of defensive skills that he can use, but he is also one of those guys who just has to taste it and adjust the seasoning more than you want, to get that part of his game firing on all cylinders. And the type of guy who would rather eat some big stuff while trying to get an enormous trap counter through. So, how that is going to play out with this guy is-ohwhoamIkidding, I'm clearly rooting for Crawford the more I talk about it.

War Spence. I think hes the better more proven fighter, and he will prove it July 29th.

Crawford. Nothing against Spence he's a likeable enough guy but he's been cleaning out the 147 division of all its 140 pounders (or in Mikey's case 135) who've moved up and been receiving a ton of credit for doing so and he's a big guy, a 154 pounder who is all sinew and muscle at the weight.

And he's only fought two career 147 pounder world champions in his entire career and only one (Porter) since winning the title of the only other one he fought (Brook) a whopping six years ago.

And he struggled badly against both (prior to Brook's other eye getting shattered that is which had a huge impact on the path the fight subsequently took both mentally and physically for Brook for obvious reasons), whereas, I don't think it's a coincidence he looked much more impressive and dominant against all the 140s and 135 Mikey he fought where his natural size, strength and physicality advantages were huge advantages for him.

Don't get me wrong, even though Crawford has come up from 135 he's often been the bigger guy at 135 and 140 (I mean weight) and even at 147 he's been fighting ones he's roughly the same size as and he's never been at a reach disadvantage in any of is world title fights either.

Obviously it's much easier to move up in weight if you were massive/very big for your first and second weights and when you move up are facing opponents you're heavier and longer than or are roughly the same as you than it is if you were small or average sized for your first weight and are giving away big/huge physical advantages when you move up.

For example, he weighed more at 135 against Gamboa than career 140 Postol did against him at 140 (he had 5lbs on Postol) and more against Postol and Diaz at 140 than career 147 than Horn did against him at 147. He's always been more a natural 147 to me but the difference here is Spence is a natural 154 pounder who will end up at 160.

140 or below champs who moved up

    Danny
    Mikey
    Ugas
    Algieri
    Peterson
    Crawford
    Career 147 champs

    Brook
    Porter

Both have fought very few legit punchers, certainly ones their size, and a lot of light to average ones and Spence has been hurt a bunch of times or spat out his mouthpiece to buy time after being hurt.

Crawford was hurt and dropped by Egis but predictably the KD wasn't called by the home ref. That being said, the Lithuanian is one of the very few legit bangers Crawford has fought and I think he would've dropped Spence too if he caught him good so it will be interesting to see how they handle each other's power.

It's not bias. I genuinely think he would drop him if he caught him clean with a big shot. Egis hits real hard with both hands and Spence has been hurt and buzzed by light to average punchers numerous times. I've never like the way he reacts to getting hit. He pulls ouch that hurt faces and has spat out his mouthpiece numerous times. Even against Porter who isn't a big puncher he was pulling those faces a lot.
