1) when Julio Cesar Chavez Jr was coming up his dad Chavez sr told him to throw the right hand in what seemed like a fight he couldn't close the show then WHAM jr throws the right hand and it's good night for his opponent. Like they say: fathers always know best. 2) rahman-ruiz. Johnny everytime they went for a clinch was wide open for a right hand, before he mauled and wrestled lol. 3) Tito Trinidad got hit with a right cross from Bernard Hopkins that ultimately Kayode him from his senses! 4) Billy irwin- Juan diaz. Baby bull was putting in a mastercraft of a performance throwing 100 punches a round, digging to the body as well as the head, floored him with a left hook (never hook with a hooker) he would snap the jab, use big combos and also step aside at times to change angles. I remember during the fight I kept yelling throw the right hand Diaz! But he was buttering him up, he saved the best for last! As soon as he found a home for his chopping right hands, it was stopped appropriately by the consumate referee. And 5) Rahman Lewis: hasim was having a bad habit of extending his arms out straight so the right cross wouldn't touch him. As soon as Lennox threw a looping right hand those forward pushing hands were in no way protecting his head. We've all seen the knockout. Lewis was the man!
Best I can remember, Michael did his damage (including the highlight-reel KO) with his left in that fight. Seems Oliver McCall was as close to literally begging Lennox Lewis to hit him with a right hand in the fight where he had his breakdown. Like, ‘please hit me’ stuff.
Yeah, that was the KO punch to the face. He delivered a nasty right to the body that was critical to the KO though, I'd guess about 30 seconds prior. Marv was in wailing at Michael's head (and Michael was doing a fair job of covering up, although he couldn't keep everything from getting through), and his lower body was wide open for much of the fight.
When Harry Arroyo fought Terrance Ali, Ali was giving him a go of it and I said Arroyo should fake to the body and throw a right to the head. He did it the next round and hurt Ali and ended the fight.
The way Hearns baited Duran for the right hand. You will likely never see a genuine ATG and great chin get sparked like that again in a long time.
Foreman vs Moorer…Michael Moorer and Teddy Atlas knew George Foreman only had one chance to win that fight … and it was to land a big right hand …Moorer was a southpaw …So every opponent he ever fought was trying to land a right hand on him …Teddy Atlas was screaming at him in the corner…Foreman vs Moorer is a greater upset than Douglas vs Tyson In my opinion
Southpaw Richard Dunn against Ali. Muhammad didn't overthink or over worry like he did a decade earlier with Mildenberger. After entertaining the spectators for a bit, Ali went directly to his right hand darts. Every bout Duane Bobick was ever in, but only Stevenson at the Munich Olympics, Norton, Knoetze and John Tate made him pay for his low left guard. Buster Drayton and Donnie LaLonde made fine championship careers out of not having a left (especially LaLonde). This is pretty good out of orthodox stances. Drayton actually decisioned Carlos Santos over the Championship Distance to become a titlist. LaLonde decisioned southpaw Hamsho, and over 12 rounds at that. The only other decision loss Mustafa ever dropped was in his six round debut. Donnie won twice over the ten round limit. All his other decision wins were over eight rounds or less. I haven't seen LaLonde-Hamsho, but it has been on YouTube.
Zhang's left (southpaw equivalent) found a more than welcoming home in the form of Joe Joyce's chin. In fact, Joe's chin also invited every other punch in the book, but his chin seemed especially enamored with Big Bang's left.
Sonny Liston had this problem, I don’t remember anyone taking advantage of it though till Ali and Martin. I wish I could see the Zora fight.
