Spence going 12 rounds with lighweight Mikey Garcia was embarassing

the real embarrassment is Mikey conning people into thinking he a chance, then shelling up to survive like a 100 loss journeyman, grinning and fist pumping all the way to the bank

 

Spence & Crawfish will raise their level against one another and they are each others best opponents on paper.

Hopefully they both come injury free and make the weight ok. Spence is definitely slightly more shotworn and the weight is hard for him to make now.

It's clear Spence is the pressure guy and Crawfish will be looking for pure boxing, clinches trying to slow the pace and box off Spence for the distance. He could stop Spence if Spence is wreckless, Crawford obovislyt can't risk being wreck less because he's softer than Spence, straight up and that's not an issue when skills win boxing matches.

If you're looking back at past fights or resume's doing complex quadratic 5th order differetial mathematics to slight either one or work out who will win you DKSAB. Both men are going to have moments. Crawford isn't unhittable but against Spence he will want to be and Spence is happy to get hit at times...but not when it's a top tier boxer who you can't land your own shots on in the process of getting hit.

Both are going to want to establish lead hand dominance early as tends to happen in these kind of fights with these kind of fighters and that's where the fight will progress from.

Spence wants to drum that body and test that chin and Crawford wants that eyeball and implanted tooth jaw. Both know where each other is "weak".

I pick Spence every day of the weak but this is a different fight to what it was 4-5 years ago, Crawford has closed the gap substancially. Same sadly applies to almost all these big fights. Fury Usyk. Floyd Pacquiao. 5 years earlier different fight. Dare I say Usyk actually stood a chance 5 years ago against Fury.

Technically when Spence got wobbled into the ropes, Ugas should've been awarded a KD. Non-issue however as Spence still closed the show.

Why embarrassing?

If anything he showed that he's much more than a one-dimensional come forward pressure fighter. He showcased a brilliant backfoot + jab game and shut Mickey out. Sure, the KO is what everyone was expecting - I still think that was a good win for him.

If world class boxer doesn't try to compete, there's a good chance they can go 12 rounds. Pacquiao/Clottey didn't make Pacquiao look bad, just Clottey. Same idea.

 

I've always fancied Bud Crawford purely based on the fact he has more of a mean streak in him. There's no show or performance when it comes to him revealing his dark side. I also give Crawford the edge skill wise and he's definitely more committed and when it comes to preparation, he's the consummate professional.

I give Spence a slight edge in power, size and strength but, Crawford hits hard and accurately enough to keep any contemporary honest. Just my 2 penneth.

 

Mikey saw something alright, he saw this twelve round beat down. I don't think Spence was that bothered about stopping him, he just wanted to let him know his place. Mikey's an outstanding fighter operating at a much lower weight and if he starts coming to survive once he realises he has nothing for Errol, it's going to be very difficult to hurt him, he is the definition of an elite fighter just much smaller, up against an elite light middleweight. He looked chunky making the weight too as soon as I saw him at the weigh in I thought this isn't going to be a contest. How many times we see a fighter suddenly decide to jump up the weightclasses to fight the man and get his *** beat lol. He had a decent win against Vargas after tbf.

 

That was embarrassing.

But Spence not being able to do anything with Mikey remains even more embarrassing.

 

Garcia's performance(or lack of) was embarrassing but he showed more ball than Spence and Crawford in facing each other.
