I don't have a dog in this race but I think it's something that needs to be considered.

Crawford has already been unified champ in two divisions.

His next fight is Spence and the fight after that he's calling out Charlo.

If he wins those two, and is unified in 4 divisions, do we have to consider him an ATG?

If he dominates & knocks out Spence, he's an ATG without needing to do anything else.

If he does that he's an ATG no doubt about it.

Gamboa, Brook, Kava, Porter, Khan, Benavidez, Horn, Postol, Burns, Dulorme, Spence Jr, Charlo, Mainly by stoppage?

    - Multi-weight champ, 0 losses. Can't really argue against that.

He would cement himself as PfP No. 1 and legitimize his entire run. This is all purely subjective, of course, but I disagree with you. Again, *if* he dominates and knocks out Spence.

Charlo will duck him though. He's afraid of Timmy from Sydney there's no way he's fighting Crawford specially if Bud dominates and stops Spence.

The corollary to Crawford's situation is Bernard Hopkins. Remember, Hopkins was the underdog against Trinidad. Prior to that fight, he was considered a good not great champion who presided over a weak era at 160. And he had lost a clear UD to the only great opponent he'd faced.

But when he dominated and KTFO Trinidad, it completely changed the perception of his championship run and he was minted at ATG at the division. He obviously further enhanced his resume when he went up in weight, but even confined to 160 he's in the conversational mix with the other great MWs. That's what Trinidad did for him.

Similar thing here. Crawford probably has a better resume at 147 than Hopkins did at 160 prior to Trinidad, but regardless he's not an ATG based on his current accomplishments. Plus, he has been inactive. But Spence provides him with an opportunity to cement himself among the greats at 147.

I like the 'mongrel' in Crawford. It's something that's missing in a lot of fighters even great ones. You can also refer to it as the four letter word that starts with C.

yes. if he can do that to spence he is undoubtedly the most skilled fighter in boxing today. and with his previous accomplishments, its an atg body of work. i dont think hes that man, but if he is, im big enough to give him his due.

Crawford's entire legacy (and Spence's to a large extent) hinges on this fight. If he loses, he'll be remembered as a very good but inactive champ who lost against his only elite opponent. If he wins a close fight, his legacy will be ambiguous unless he builds from there. If he wins & dominates, he's an ATG.

I'm not a huge Crawford fan because his resume is thin for an A-side guy his age. This fight should have happened several years ago, and the winner could have progressed to 160 and probably made some noise there against a weak field. As it is, at least this fight is happening and we get a legacy question answered at 147.
