An extremely fair and well thought out post. Holyfield rated the Lewis chin above bowe's as a matter of fact. We saw Holyfield sit Bowe on his ass.

Holyfield rated the Lewis chin 2nd most notable of his opponents.

Lennox Lewis had a great chin. I went back and watched the fights and the people who knocked him out [did so] because he had a different mindset for them. He didn’t fight smart with them ‘cause he felt he could beat them. Everybody he pursued and thought that he could beat, they ended up knocking him out – that’s Oliver McCall and Hasim Rahman. I came to respect him ‘cause I know in the last fight I buckled him a few times but he didn’t go.

John Thomas 1. Repeating oneself is not a good sign, it is showing one's age. BAD. Ha Ha Ha.

The purpose of a heavyweight punching someone bang on the chin is to knock them out. It is unsurprising that this sometimes happens.

I suggest you watch Lewis's fights with Mercer,Briggs and Vitali Klitschko. These were '' fire-fights'' where
Lewis's chin did prove to be reliable.

No amount of watching anything is going to help this one, unfortunately.

It's the punches you don't see coming, not the punches you see coming that hurt you. Lennox didn't see those punches coming.

Hasim Rahman is really underrated on these parts. Was he great no but still a very good contender.

Thats one of the ways I look at it also. The best chins in the business would’ve definitely felt those shots in varying degrees if they were hit in exactly the same way. The available angle on the Rahman punch perfectly conveys the impact force - it was a BIG punch. Otherwise, there’s plenty to uphold Lewis as having a good chin. Co-incidentally, I recently rewatched Lewis vs Mercer - what a fight that was. Top
    Shelf.

No, not glass at all. If it were he doesn't have such a successful, long term career.
It's not as if he went out of his way to avoid any hard hitting guys really either, he just got careless, regrouped and came back.

I'd say hit chin was above average but not iron. He took plenty of hard punches in a long career.

Lewis was tested vs big punchers like Mason, Bruno, Briggs, Tua, who hit him flush without Lewis ever going down. And was in tough battles with Vitali, Mercer, where Lewis took numerous shots without going down.

Did Bowe ever get hit by a genuine puncher ? Holyfield dropped Bowe heavily with one punch, and probably would've stopped him in their 3rd fight had Holyfield been healthly. He was suffering from Hepatitis at the time and you can see he had no energy to finish off Bowe.

Put it this way Bowe's team certainly didn't want to find out after Lewis poleaxed Ruddock.
