That's what saintpat said that he would offer a fighter not to retire.

That's your typical reply also when Tyson losing his titles are discussed?

If not, you're the standard Tyson fan who thinks that excuses are like assholes for anyone but Tyson.

Oh no, I have had much the same with for example Duran fans, but unlike Tyson fans it seems like the most rabid Duran fans have left this forum.

Let me dismantle your favorite fighters competition right before your very eyes. What's his name?

One difference is that Tyson's lack of discipline kept him from being the number one heavyweight of all time whereas the 80s guys he steamrolled were destined to that fate no matter what.

Sure, he wanted to fight Tyson.

It’s Mike who postponed fights with Holyfield three times, not the other way around. (Not to mention losing to Buster put the fight off.)

But Evander finally tracked Mike down and got him into the ring twice and beat him.

I see the short-term memory isn’t working so well with your old age.

Hagler fought SR Leonard for $20M. He wanted to make the big payday at the end of his career and you think he should have retired rather than risk losing a fight.

I guess Tyson should have retired before Buster … and before Holyfield … and before Holyfield again … etc.

Fighters shouldn’t take fights they might lose because … legacy.

    Legacy don’t buy groceries.

That's something you presuppose because you're a Tyson fan. Results never ended up in Tyson's favour because his opponent wasn't at his best, results only went against him because he himself wasn't at his best. Nothing that objectively can be said with much certainity.

A good number of the rest of us would on the hand agree that Tyson most likely would beat these guys anyway, but also feel that Douglas and Holy beat Tyson so comprehensively that one or both of them probably would have prevailed in a best version against best version scenario as well. A more consistent position.

Ok. So you believe that Tyson lost to Douglas and Holy because they had his number, not because he was poorly prepared?

Pinklon Thomas was a hardcore heroin addict … but of course who cares, Tyson wins anyway!

Tyson had sex before a fight in Tokyo … WELL OF COURSE HE LOST, HOW COULD HE WIN AFTER THAT? THE RESULT IS INVALID.

Every Tyson loss should have an asterisk by it on boxrec that says *had good excuse — so we know he’s really undefeated all-time, lol.
