"To win more often" assumes the question is if they fight several times. In such a case I see Evander taking most of the fights, if not all.
I can imagine this being a very technical fight. Very close. Just can’t pick a winner. I’d put a bet on a Draw.
As of now Holyfield imo, but if Usyk racks up a few more decent wins and proves himself further it's potentially a decent debate
On the night, both at peak, I simply can't pick it.. I love both fighters equally so I can't even choose on a favourite. Put a gun to my head and the best I could do is jump off this fence and toss a coin...
I saw a young Holyfield with I think only about 12 fights rumble with a still seriously dangerous Dwight Muhammed Qawi. Evander around 200 is more than Usyk could handle in my opinion and sets the pace and doesn't let Usyk relax. Takes a UD.
Holyfield (who one of his trainers Emmanuel Steward claimed was the most egotistical of all fighters) conceded that Usyk would beat him in this era, so it's not much of a debate. Holyfield claimed that he would "tear up" Joe Louis and beat Ali because "I know everything they know plus things they didn't know", due to the fact that he came after them. Holyfield fared poorly against southpaws, though in fairness he evinced a willingness to fight them that no heavyweight before him did. He lost to a chinny ex-LHW in Moorer (the 1st southpaw of any note he fought as a pro) and said before the Byrd fight that he didn't want to fight him because of his defensive southpaw style, ended up fighting him and losing by a huge margin. Usyk is a much bigger and better fighter than Moorer or Byrd.
If I were to look at this "dream fight" from the perspective of Holyfield vs Moorer rivalry (because of Moorer's southpaw style) - I would favor Usyk. Also Usyk seems much superior to Moorer to me. It's not just the southpaw style. Usyk controls space and angles better. Usyk's fighting style (at least what he showed against AJ) would frustrate Holyfield. Usyk win UD (eventually MD), but not too convincingly.
I said in my original post no PED control, they fight as is-which likely means at least Evander is using at HW, arguable if he was at the specified @ 208.
Not saying Usyk couldn't beat Evander, but Evander faced much better competition. So I pick him for now.
OK I respect your opinion & experience, but I gotta ask about that. FIrst you would take Holyfield at 200...over Evander at that same weight, or any weight? Next he did not fight Quai at more than ~187, so would you take that version over *any* version of Usyk? Or do you mean that if he was between what he weighed as a HW & CW, theoretically about 200 lbs.? Next, why do you imply he has a higher workrate? When he was in the 180's he would have the advantage re: likely being able to set a faster pace than say Usyk at 221/221.5 in his last fights... But without Googling it, Usyk himself has a remendous workrate for a HW. I'll bet anything his workrate AT HW was more than any of Holyfield's. Did Evander even throw more punches than Usyk ever did as a CW OR a HW-or land more-when he was in the 180's?
A factual correction: Usyk & the Moorer who fought Holyfield were about the same size. One inch shorter. The same wingspan, 6'6". Moorer 213 in their first fight, 223 in the rematch-more than Usyk has fought at. You can say Moorer bulked up, but so did Usyk, although to a lesser degree between early & late career.
