Since you did not qualify it as relative to the divisions that they were fought in, it is very ikely to be someone in the lightest or near the lightest division-certainly under Lightweight.

Even the weight of a LW compared to minimum weight-especially in the days before rehydration-is a large percentage.
So probably someone near 105 lbs., at most someone less than 120.

That's true! The guys I mentioned were simply no punch resistance boxers, kind of defective after getting their bell rung too many times. Thanks for clarifying that.

Note: who had the worst punch resistance of all time? And lol I guess at 105 it comes down to who has the best pair of gloves! I kid I kid!

We've never heard of them as their chin was so bad they didn't get anywhere.

Chuck Davey and Bob Satterfield come to mind, I'm kind of brainstorming, as I don't think Satterfield would be close to the worst even though his chin was very unreliable. The difficulty in which I've had trying to conjur some up just goes to show you how much durability is prized among great fighters. I was thinking of other guys like Earnie Shavers, Thomas Hearns, Primo Carnera, James Tillis, Frank Bruno, Ezzard Charles, Razor Ruddock, Mike Weaver, Carl Williams (a lot of 80s guys, I'm having a hard time thinking of guys that aren't heavyweights as well), but most of these guys didn't have downright awful chins, but certainly unreliable ones. But in each case there is an occasion or two where they all proved that they could be a tough cookie.

I'm inclined to agree John. You would have to be on a string of long knockout wins against insignificant or washed-up opponents like Mac Foster or John Tate.

Well done Mike_b. If you already mentioned Helenius, let me mention Tommy "The Duke" Morrison. I can't say that he had the weakest chin of all time, but his chin was definitely a problem.
Entaowed explained it to you nicely, so I mention Morrison as a weak chin within the heavyweight division.

Except that the worst chin of al time would be beaten by guys even worse than teh washed up versions of former contenders...
And mainly they would be small, likely tiny men, since a poor chin at HW is gonna be a lot better than a poor chin at not much over 100 lbs.!

    Great point.

Tbh, a lot of the so called weaker chins at the upper levels are being measured relative to a number of uncommon chins residing on the spectrum of very good to inhuman.

In absolute terms, I wouldn’t necessarily call them weak chins - I see them as chins that were/are certainly good to see them eligible to compete at the higher or highest levels.

Defensive skills can be called in to muddy the waters - but even then, the very best defensive guys still get tagged good from time to time without falling apart.

You also have contrary propositions - like a Ken Norton who, save for the Garcia fight, was only ever KO’d by 3 sublime punchers, 2 of the KOs coming very late in his career - facts which a number of people often ignore when framing his as a fighter with a weak chin.

I think Cleveland Williams chin is often underrated due to similarly flawed assessments that are devoid of due context.

Kovalev? Did you not see his fight against Yarde? His chin is well above average.

Now, Amir Khan, on the other hand ...

Talking absolutes, of course it would likely be the lightest division - but surely we’re talking relative to their weight division.

Marvin Hagler is often afforded to have had one of if not the best chins ever - it goes without saying or qualification that we’re talking in the realm of MW.

And in those relative, P4P terms it can be argued that Marv had a better chin than Ali - certainly not to be confused with claiming that he had better chin than Ali in absolute terms.
