He basically ducked Jeff Horn at the end there. Horn wanted the rematch, so it's weird Pac didn't want to try to avenge a defeat he thought was a robbery.
And they say he a warrior. It's VALERA. I feminized it as per the rules of his language. That guy wasn't nothing but Pac ducked him hard because he scared him in the gyms, caused a stir, hispanic causing panic. There's no excuse. He could've had that fight NE thyme.
Who is Valero ? Oh, that guy who killed his wife then hang himself before he could have a fight against Pacman...
I remember Soto's name being thrown around a lot for a period of time in regards to Pacquiao and Marquez. But let's be real Pac would of murdered him. Pac supposedly ducking Soto is laughable when he couldn't beat Guzman. Also the one time I recall it being talked about seriously, Pac fought De La Hoya instead, which is understandable. As for Guzman yeah there was a time he was getting some hype but he was just too damn unreliable with pulling out of fights and failing to make weight a few times. You're not going to risk blowing a headline fight on a card because of someone like Guzman. Valero was never in contention, he went loco before the fight could really be seriously on the cards.
That had a lot to do with TR. Pacuiao dropped out of the immediate rematch due to his political ambitions. What TR offered Pacquiao after that was a fight with Mike Alvarado on the Horn vs Crawford undercard. And that was the end of Pacuiao´s run with TR. After that, what was the point? Manny signed a deal with PBC and can you blame them(PBC) for not wanting to do a rematch with Horn(who was tied to TR)?
I can't find the article but Paulie said he will pile on the points against Pac. This scared Pac to death.
Actually, Valero was being lined up to fight Pac. Arum was hyping it up and Valero and Pac both expressed interest in fighting each other.
Yeah but not right away, they were fighting two divisions apart at the time of his death. Valero would of at the very least had to move up to 140lbs first and Arum said he saw him as a future opponent. So in the context of this thread he couldn't of ducked him as there were no plans for them to fight just yet.
As i said before between Super Featherweight/Lightweight there were some interesting fights to made, not that i'm saying Pacquiao avoided anyone but stylistically they were maybe tough match ups for him. Joan Guzman Edwin Valero Zahir Raheem = after he schooled Morales would've been interesting Pacquiao also only had 1 fight at Lightweight then moved up for big fights vs ODLH, Hatton, which you can't blame him for. But fights vs....... Nate Campbell Joel Casamayor Would've been interesting fights based on styles, but obviously fights vs ODLH, Hatton, were much bigger fights and made sense. Although i feel both fighters may of given him tougher stylistic match ups than a zombie version of ODLH and Hatton but this is all with hindsight of course.
Ducking is a silly concept in general because fighters generally pursue the biggest $$ matches that can be made, but Pacquaio in particular is immune to that accusation. If he could have fought anyone, I wish Hamed had come along a little later.
