The funny thing is this is the same guy who mocks others for pointing out Foreman's fatigue issues against Young due to his lack of preparation.

He picks and choses who gets excuses and who doesn't. What a clown.

That's not my gripe. My gripe is the poster who claimed Foreman was a better puncher than Ruddock because his KO ratio was higher.

There are reasons why. One being he fought more then Ruddock.

Of course he does. Foreman haunts him every waking hour and i dare say in sleeping ones as well. It's bizarre.

I have said on multiple occasions that I think Wilder has the more powerful overhand right.

Wilder is very likely the hardest puncher of all time. Him or Shavers. Baer deserves a shout as well.

I know this is a topic for another thread and I don’t want to derail this one. But do you think Max Baer is a candidate for that number one spot ? Don’t get me wrong, the guy hit extremely hard. But given all the members of that fraternity does he really stand out that much ?

I don’t think he’s a candidate for number one but perhaps number 3. He killed three people in the ring so his power had to have been serious.
Of course just because you have power doesn’t mean you have the ability to put it to use effectively. Baer was not a great fighter and lacked any resemblance of a jab and fell halfway down to his side when throwing an uppercut.

With the right trainer he could’ve been a lot more.

Get a punch bag. Get any boxer to hit the ****er as hard as they can. All wired up and measure its impact in ppi or whatever and I bet a lot of your legendary punchers don’t hit as hard. Never mind timing, speed and all other variables. George Foreman. 2 time champion and HOFer. Donovan “Razor” Ruddock. Lost all major fights. He always seemed to conduct himself with class but compare the results. Skill, timing, speed beats pure brute force. And a good chin.

Norton is 50/50, Frazier probably not. I see Frazier surviving a few scary moments getting rocked or knocked down early, but then drowning Baer late. Anything could happen though.

Oops I was reading a post about Baer right before replying lol.

Wilder definitely beats Norton after getting thoroughly outboxed for 5-6 rounds with the first solid bomb he lands.

Frazier is hard to envision, but it's quite possible Wilder wins that as well. I'd definitely try to avoid matching Frazier against him unless I had to as a trainer/manager.

I never said Foreman had a bad chin and never excused Dokes for having bad stamina.

I think it was as much a lack of passion than anything. Unlike the vast majority his heart just wasn't into boxing that much. Even better trained he'd still have to be very driven. Sometimes he did turn up but not consistently. Apparently he was very much an entertainer at heart.

This is reflected in his rather up and down career. Although, he did have that three-year spell, during '32, '33 and '34 where, for mine, he was the best heavyweight in the world - and still he didn't quite want to embrace where he was in the sport, so it seemed.
