two losses in row where does taylor go from here

I know Taylor hasn't looked great recently but that is a complete mismatch. He stops Benn in similar fashion to OD

 

He signed for a rematch on March 4th. Boxxer were doing a pre-sale, he started camp, they filmed a Gloves Are Off, did the promo shoot for Sky etc and were due to announce it at the Eubank v Smith fight. He got an injury that week, asked to postpone but Catterall then announced he was fighting on the Okolie card on March 25 (never ended up fighting though). Catterall then left Boxxer (who were promoting the fight) to join Matchroom. How’s that Josh’s fault?

 

I doubt it to be honest. He is shot in my opinion. Which means in a few years Benn might fight him

 

I was just about to post this mate as much as it kills me!! JT needs a Benn/Brook/Khan type rebuild fight. Even an Eggington type opponent.

 

Maybe it depends on whether you think the injury was legit. Consensus at the time seemed to be that it was bull****.

 

Lot of effort to go to for a fight he had no intention of going through with - going from Scotland to Liverpool to start camp, travelling from Liverpool to London to film the gloves are off etc.

 

Last night confirmed to me that he has slipped out of elite level over a 2 year period since the Ramirez fight with all those hard fights catching up with him in what has been a short but fast track pro career.

At 32 years of age, it is unlikely that he can hit that elite level of performance again and he was well beat last night.

As seen with Joshua, easy fights will do nothing to prepare him when he has to fight the best in his division.

Josh Taylor will know himself if there is another 10% in there that he needs to find now if facing any elite World Champion.

 

This is probably one of the easiest things to summarise in British Boxing, he's done, absolutely done. Moving to London, getting with Davison, it's derailed him beyond suitable repair now. This should be a lesson to many boxers.

It did actually happen about a 15 years ago when Richie Woodhall said he thought he lost in the interview on Sky straight after he boxed Glenn Catley. Commendable, but then as he is one of the nicest guys in boxing we shouldn’t be surprised. Class act.

 

Should have moved up a while ago. Not sure he does anything at 147 though. Tough division and Josh seems to have transformed in to the Tartan Tampon.

 

Said after his Ramirez fight, him putting on weight and partying would be his downfall at 140. Already tight at the weight and then got in shocking shape after the Ramirez fight compared to how he was before.

Can't expect to then fight well at 140 after that. Wasted 2 of his prime years after the Ramirez fight with putting weight on and the Catterall debacle.

Respect him for honouring fighting Catterall who stepped aside, should of moved up after that fight though, that's when he's wasted so much time.

Needs to go to 147 now, probably an easy'ish fight or two, big fight then he'll retire I would think.

It's such a shame, before he moved to London he had that hunger and focus, he was a really spiteful fighter with the skill and conditioning to beat anyone in the division. The Taylor that won the WBSS would have made Lopez look second rate, he'd have made Catterall look like the overrated fighter that he is, possibly gone up to 147 and been a 50/50 with Crawford in what would have been a mega fight. It's too late now, he's absolutely blown it, he'd have made more money and had a better legacy and a better mental state if he'd not broken what was working for him.

 

Martin and Parker had the belts they were put in front of AJ and he beats them, and iron man of the division at the time was too busy getting pissed and eating himself stupid, Joshua's fault?

 

Was he ever really elite. He was elite in his division. But in terms of being an elite fighter i m not so sure. Weakish division he was in imo. Guys he beat havent really beating any big names in the grand scheme of things. They we,re hard fights for josh as well.

Not to discredit josh....but he was always up against it against lopez and crawfords etc. Had a great career....deserves massive credit for the fights he took and won so early in his career. Great fighter just never going to be truely elite....would have been interesting tho if he got an elite fighter at the right time. But still a big ask imo.

He was elite in his division tho....which is a great career tbf.
