No, the division is stuck because four other mandatories were waiting since late 2022 and seem will continue to be waiting until sometime in 2024. "Such as"... Joshua, Fury, Wilder, Hrgovic, Usyk... If he has no other option, but Zhang again, then his career truly is over.
I bet he couldn't believe how easy it was, it was 1 way traffic from the first bell. I remember thinking after round 3 Joyce has to change his approach here and fast, but nothing changed and he continued to be hit flush & with relative ease. As a Joyce fan, it was painful to watch. Fair play for taking the fight first time round, and certainly for taking the rematch straight away, he's got guts ill give him that but unless he tries a really different approach I'm sure that it will be the same outcome
Yeah styles make fights and I can't see the rematch going too differently as think that eye will end up opening up again. I just don't see how he avoids those flush lefts without fundamental changes which aren't likely at this stage of career. Think Joyce will always struggle with heavy hitting southpaws to be honest. Still think he's a tough fight for most of the top guys in the division though.
Was a bit worried for him when he changed the Mike Tyson quote before the fight with something along the lines of “everyone has a plan until they punch me in the face and nothing happens” If as a fighter you are solely relying on your chin then it’s not a good sign.
no shame losing to 6 foot 6 tank like zhang plenty shame in losing to wee mexican obese man ruiz and then give up joyce never touch canvas doctor stopped ti big difference joyce still best in world in my opinion
Agree Jim The visual impact of a badly out of shape Ruiz battering Joshua with only a few day's notice for the fight was shameful. When the going gets tough, Joyce will keep going until he is stopped while Joshua gives me the impression he would be looking at his corner demanding a flying towel to save him. He may prove us wrong when he fights Wilder but I cannot see him getting up after being planted on the canvas.
Yeah, that loss looked terrible. We’ll see what he’s all about these days in the Wilder fight. On a side note, AJ went straight into a rematch with Ruiz too.
You talk about losing to someone who has an eating problem... but Ruiz is a heavyweight. So what does it matter what he looks like? Fury's body is the most odd. You fools would be the first to shout that muscles don't win fights. So you can't have it all ways. Anyway, Joyce is old, slow, has no defence and has been stopped. Any elite or top heavy plays with him.
Exactly. Chris Ryan is happy to bring Ruiz into every single thread and constantly call him fat but then he sucks Furys Phallus at every opportunity who is hardly a picture of health most times, not to mention the thread he’s made praising Gorman who whilst isn’t at Ruiz levels of bounce he’s also consistently overweight.
