This is the fight I would love to see. Matias size, nonstop pressure and aggression, and power could possibly give Teofimo a helluva fight IMO.
Teo. I think the style that gives Teo trouble is a pure boxer like Martin or Haney or Shakur. Teo probably beats both Regis and Ramirez.
If Teo fights like he fought Kambosos he doesnt hear the final bell. If Teo fights using his max IQ (which is not his most frequent IQ), he wins more or less easily and Matías will not see the final round. Matías IQ is even lower than Teo's most frequent IQ (Teo proved yesterday that he can fight with a very high IQ when he is not acting like an idiot, at least vs southpaws). Whoever wins, will do it by KO, that's for sure. The problem with Teo is that you never know which version you will see the fight night. But the best version of Teo KTFO Matías, imho. As much as I like Matías and I'm a fan of him.
I agree that Teo can beat Matias and perhaps stop him if he fights as sharp as he did against Taylor. Teo can matador Matias with his counterpunching and boxing IQ, but it’ll still be an interesting clash of styles. I think Matias would give a much better effort than Taylor.
Matias is probably most nightmarish fighter in the game to be standing in the opposite corner of outside of Beterbiev. He's the real life boogeyman and if you can't keep him off of you he'll drag you through hell. Literally. If Teofimo can't keep him off Matias will drown him in poisonous quicksand and make him have a nervous breakdown.
I got Teo being undisputed at 140. I don't see anyone at 140 beating a focused Teo tbh. Rollie is a stepping stone, Teo will make Rollie his son. Devin is the only threat to him after he beats Regis.
Teo recently made a comment about Matias and said he would stop him in 4. “He’s a solid dude,” said Lopez on The Porter Way Podcast. “A solid fighter, definitely got that grit. He’s very easy to beat. He’ll probably go out in four.” Matías also made a response calling out Teo on his IG. Translation: "@teofimolopez already know you accepted the perfect fight just a detail do not pick the date of February let's make it happen by the end of March or early April let's give the fans what the want to see. Aim your second defeat and first defeat for NoMas-Tias. " This content is protected
Now that we're likely going to see this fight next year I think it's crazy how perception over Matias has changed drastically compared to a year prior. Matias went from being this feared fighter to someone that Teo should be expected to beat handily. Still hoping for at least an entertaining styles match up. One things for Teo can't afford to make lapses against a puncher like Matias, otherwise he could be in for a surprise.
I think Teo wins comfortably. He does best against fighters that come to him and allow him to be the counter puncher and that's Matias in a nutshell.
