There's a whole lot more that effects punching power aside from merely the handspeed and weight of the fighter.

Fury has 40lbs on Wilder and arguably is typically, roughly equal in hand speed, yet Wilder clearly punches substantially harder.

The proportion of body weight a boxer puts into a punch and the proportion of the impact absorbed by the target (vs the one throwing the punch) are also material to punch power. Wrist and arm position, as well as the strength of muscles, ligaments and tendons in the arm and shoulder, effect the latter.

And that's just raw power. Timing, accuracy and the momentum of your opponent (e.g. walking on opponent on a punch as they close in on you) are also material to effective power.

You just need to understand the basics and everything else is just everything else. i get tired of walking people thru this holding they hand. fury punch harder at full power its just he dont use all of his power cuz he not clumsy and awkward/reckless like caveman george who never had a trick up his sleeve cuz he was bizzy grillin it on his grill.

Exactly. No fighter puts literally 100% of their mass into a punch, so by definition punch power is more nuanced than a simple "weight of the fighter x speed of the punch" equation.

Fury typically puts a lower % of his mass into his punches than Foreman and Wilder do theirs, which is a contributory factor as to why he doesn't typically punch as hard as they do/did, despite being much heavier and typically throwing with at least equal handspeed.

I'd bet on Ruddock's left hookercut landing harder than Foreman's left hook. Probably not anything else though.

Does this stuff matter? Once a fighter has one-punch KO power, better to be able to land it more often than to add an extra 10% unneeded power to it. I never quite understood why the guys who fall in love with their own power don't get this.

I can't like this post enough.

Somebody said Foreman fought Jabronis. Man, heavyweights back then did round robins.. they all fought each other. Unlike today, where Fury should have already fought Usyk, Joshua, maybe Hergovic and Zhang.. and those guys should have already fought each other, multiplied. Is Usyk going to fight Wilder? Or Zhang? Or Big Baby?

I can still remember people seriously saying Joyce rates higher than Foreman. Now it's Ruddock. I suppose Joshua rates higher than Foreman?

he could have retired 40-1 after the rumble and would still have a better resume than any of today's heavyweights, but he literally doubled that number of fights, it's not even possible for Fury to rack up 81 bouts at this point because of his inactivity and the lack of game competition, he gave more than respectable performances against two of the biggest juicers of the 90's (Holyfield, Morrison) in his mid 40's
