Is there any set of life circumstances that would make Brian London a top 10 H2H heavyweight?

London was a very fit man ,even into his advancing years,
You can develop latent talent ,but ,if it isnt there to start with no Arcel, Futch,Steward Roach,Blackburn ,whomever,is going to turn a sow's ear into a silk purse.

    That is pro boxing indeed.
But likewise as London admitted after his bout with Ali, he thought "don't get hurt Brian", and I therefore didn't try. Something he said he regretted, but not in my opinion the thinking of a top10 h2h heavyweight asked in this thread.

How did I violate the spirit of the thread? These things are all real!

No worries. You didn't violate the spirit of the thread.

I was responding to mcvey, and I took mcvey's use of the phrase "super mutants" to be something distinct from what you were talking about. He was referring to comic book stuff. You, as far as I could tell, were using hyperbole to talk about the effects of Evan Fields-esque chemical assistance.

Change his name to Brian Scunthorpe and moves up into the top 20 at least.

This might be true, but he knew his ceiling this is a smart man’s business - when you don’t know it you might end up like the man from Seoul or you could end up like Jersey Joe Walcott? It’s a gamblers game.

Rocky not having bone lengthening surgery is just never factored in this modern era.

Well I suppose if he’d had an elite trainer a Steward or whoever training him all his career he could have been a bit better, but not to the level required by the OP. he was pretty limited.
Apart from the Ali fight where he admitted he lay down he was game as they come and fought a lot of good men.
As a street fighter however I think he might have reached the equivalent level required going by his performance after the final bell in the Dick Richardson fight!

Rocky “Legs all the way up” Marciano

Also, that description invokes Eldritch horror.

Steve Rodgers had mad skills..... See his fights on the ship in "Winter Soldier"? Vs Tony Stark in the Missile silo ( Though he had help from his boy Bucky) In" Civil War," Lasted longer against Thanos in the "End Game" than both Iron Man and Thor....

Id say that was partly true with some exceptions mate. When in with boxers of the calibre of Patterson and Ali, he knew he'd no chance but still had a go. I remember in the Folley fight he was getting an early beating but came back well to win. the fight. Albeit a past best Folley. Im sure you'll agree that his record was full of some of the top boxers of his time of all nationalities. His fight with Nino Valdes I think is on you tube. Stopped on a cut but doing quite well up to the end. I dont think he lacked heart really.
Not sure you can still get it Freddy but I recommend it. Good luck mate, try Amazon.

Did you see the head butt he delivered to the ring invader after the Prescott fight? That bears you out. Plus I dont think the 007 club got a massive amount of trouble.

I’ve seen film of the aftermath of the Prescott fight a short while ago but can’t find it since.
I remember watching it live as it was on the BBC.
The decision was a robbery and the fella who came into the ring was actually sympathising with London over the decision, London in the meantime thought he had bad intentions and floored him with a head butt!!
