In 1942, instead of fighting Buddy Baer, he fights Butterbean for the HW championship of the world. Butterbean had a hell of a punch. Could it all over for Louis reign if Butterbean decks him?
Butterbean fought someone of Joe Louis' caliber only once (and that only by name, not by performance). In the last fight of his career, Larry Holmes (53 years old). If the fight goes to the fourth round Butterbean's chances are slim to none.
Butterbean is less agile than Galento with far worse technique, he pretty much just used his size to brawl and would gas super fast, nothing one of the few if only ATGs that sometimes gets ranked above Ali couldn't handle
The 7 reasons why Butterbean could claim victory… 1. He KO’d Pete McNeely in one round. Not a great reason but I have to take what I can get with this guy! 2. He went the distance with the great Larry Holmes. Yes Larry was 53, but I have to take etc etc. 3. Erm… 4. He hits pretty hard so he has a punchers chance. 5. Did I mention he went the distance with Larry Holmes?? 6. Erm… 7. Joe Louis is dead. This is his best chance of victory. Oh, you said 1942. Ignore this one then!
