Who wins at their best ? I think Marquez's counter punching would be very tough for Arguello. But Arguello has elite punching power. I think I might favour Marquez over 12 rounds and maybe Arguello over 15 rounds.
Great fight and a beautiful violent chess match, but I think this can only go one way which would be an Arguello victory. Alexis' range would be a problem for JMM, not to mention the right hand which would certainly not miss. JMM will get dropped by Arguello's right multiple times. Arguello is one of the few fighters that I can certainly see stopping JMM.
I agree with everyone else…Arguello’s power and reach are the difference here …and he could stop Marquez
I think it depends on the rounds if its 12 round fight I could maybe see Marquez eeking out a decision. I think Marquez could produce what Ruben Castillo did and outbox Arguello but actually surviving the distance. If its 15 rounds though I favour Arguello quite strongly honestly, either by late stoppage or decision after Marquez hits the canvas a few times.
Two fighters I absolutely love but Arguello is definitely the better of the two (and greater as well). No criticism of Marquez, who had a fantastic career in his own right. But I have to go with the El Flaco Explosivo. Marquez would go the distance though. Could be a great fight as well.
