What say you? the KO at Wembley over Groves was good enough for me. The Bute upset. He did well.

You must not have heard about the time he knocked out George Groves in front of eighty thousand people at Wembley.

Well, he has a better resume than Ward, even if Ward beat him.

Beating Grovesx2 is also better than Ward beating Kovalevx2, though they were both dodgy results in certain ways.

The first Groves fight everyone knows was an early stoppage, but Ward got a gift in the first Kovalev fight and many thought he lost.
The second fight Froch won by proper KO, while Ward got a gift stoppage, even if he was likely going to win.

Overall, Groves at that time was more dangerous than the Kovalev Ward fought, who was on the decline and also had issues with Snake Jackson in the second fight. Groves was prime and very dangerous.

Even the post-Froch mentally-wrecked version of Groves under the hippy weirdo trainer still only narrowly lost to prime Badou Jack, who went on to beat up Degale and others.

Well, he's already in the hall of fame, question did he deserve it? His resume is more than just good, Kessler, Groves x2, Dirrel (at least officially), Bute, Taylor, Johnson, Abraham and let's not forget the future light heavyweight champion in Pascal.

Then factor in the Groves rematch was a huge, huge event in the UK, at that point in time I don't think I had experienced a fight in a UK that big, that literally had every pub in my city just rammed with sports fans to watch the fight. The casino's were selling tickets to watch the fight, so people could get a guaranteed seat to view the fight and people were willing to pay because people were spilling out of pubs to try and watch the fight. Didn't experience that again until Joshua came along. It's rare boxing takes centre stage, football usually dominates but for one day boxing was the only sport people were talking about.

So yeah I think he deserved it.

I don’t know if OP knows but Froch is in as of this year. And he definitely deserves to be in being that he was undoubtedly the second best SMW in what was the deepest SMW era.

Let’s just take a look at his wins:
Robin Reid, Jean Pascal, Jermain Taylor, Andre Dirrel, Arthur Abraham, Mikkel Kessler, Glen Johnson, Lucian Bute, George Groves. If not for Andre Ward he is by far the best SMW of that era.

Totally forgot about that. He is so humble, he rarely mentions it.

Froch-Groves 2 and Hatton-Mayweather was really well promoted in the UK.

    The whole country was buzzing.

Yeah, he is. Classic fights vs. Taylor, Kessler, Pascal. Groves I banger. Bute hypetrain derailment, Groves II putting a stamp on the first fight. Kessler II beating Mikkel soundly to the point where you figure he could have done it that way the first time if he were disciplined. Fight vs. Dirrell he lost in my opinion. I guess the main thing I prefer for him over his contemporaries, even Ward, is the quality of his fights and the higher frequency of big fights.
