An argument could be made that Taylor beat better fighters at 140 compared to Crawford. Also, Haney and Charlo have much better resumes compared to Crawford.
This is true, Crawford's resume is not great in general and even if Crawford's resume at 140 is not better than Taylor's he's at least shown he can dominate in multiple weight classes instead of just feasting on one that might be weak. Moving up in weights to find bigger challenges, facing more different styles and overcoming them. Also it's not just about resume, it's about skills, what you show even against over matched opposition and it's been clear to me for a long time that Crawford is a top level P4P fighter and that Taylor albeit very good was never in the same category as guys like Crawford or Spence. Which is probably why he didn't move up in weight as he said he would, he might have the resume to rival Crawford in some ways as you have shown but he does not have the skills.
I saw his fight with Taylor he is overrated. His feet are like in cement. His hand speed is good but can't explode with his feet or finesse his way in the kill zone. Looks like a tall fighter with reach can easily keep him at bay with a jab and keep turning him around with ease because his feet are slow as molasses.Teo will stop this guy. Teo can't get reckless of course but he should be able to box around all day and hurt him.
Ya he scraped by his wins. Crawford dominated. And no Haney and Charlo don't have better resumes than Crawford not even close
Against who though? I’ve never been sold on Prograis either. He gets a lot of props for doing pretty much nothing.
Styles, like matchmakers, make fights. Rougarou struggled against a late notice opponent who was very negative and who presented a stylistic challenge for him. Teofimo cheerleaders are trying to airbrush away his loss to the decidedly average Kambosos and his unofficial loss to Enzo Maccarinelli lookalike Sandor Martin whose style, like Zorrilla's did with Rougarou, caused him fits. Difference being Rougarou deserved the win against Zorrilla whilst, conversely, Teofimo deserved to lose against Martin. Both Teofimo's losses (the official and unofficial one) were in his backyard against opponents his size. Martin was a 14o pounder but Teofimo was obviously massive for 135 and a natural 140 pounder at worst. Kambosos is a natural 135 pounder. This content is protected Teofimo was dropped officially once but arguably twice by the light hitting Martin and Rougarou was unofficially dropped once by Zorrilla who is a big puncher.
Yeah his foot work was also really exposed Zoriila, who didn't even look comfortable boxing off the back foot, but it was still enough to befuddle him for long stretches of the fight. Teo would indeed win, he's at his best when an opponent comes to him and allows him to play the role of the counter puncher. Pograis simply doesn't have the skills to force Lopez onto the front foot like Kambosos and Martin.
