Too close for comfort man. I rank both of them up there. Essentially I'm saying it would be a war. When Cotto bloodied Mayweather s nose the fans said "he made the pinata bleed." He gave Floyd his toughest test. Gave Canelo a performance that coulda went both ways, MURDERED Antonio Margarito, hung in there with the pacman, crushed Zab Judah, obliterated Paulie Malignaggi and proved to be just as strong physically as Shane Mosley in the clinch.

Idk too much about Errol but he gives me the impression that he treats his opponents like they are a heavy bag. Working upstairs downstairs, downstairs upstairs. The only knock is that he kept grazing low in one of his fights!

    Great mythical h2h matchup!

Cotto by decision, he would eventually box like against Mosley and initially against Margo. Difference between Margo and Spence is the former had an iron chin back then not yet cracked, so he was able to keep pressuring the latter.

Cotto was never on Spence’s level. It’s really nothing to overthink.

Cotto's face is too soft for Spence.

    Great fight though

I dont bet against prime cotto unless ATG oponent or plaster gloves. Sorry.

And last time I checked Spence's best victory was porter. So, cotto, all the way.

Once Spence is KTFO by Crawford more people will agree with this comment.

Based on what ? Nothing in Spence's resume suggests hes on a different level to Cotto who has a far superior resume.

Spence's best win is Shawn Porter who Cotto would've beaten aswell.

Cotto's fought better opposition but he lost to the best of them. Which was his best win? Shot Mosley, shot to pieces Judah, 1 legged Sergio Martinez or Margarito who did nothing since his tampered gloves were discovered?

Cotto and Spence are both boxer punchers but Spence is bigger, stronger, faster, longer and more athletic. We've seen Cotto be broken more than once and the Spence that punished Ugas is a major problem for any welterweight not named Tommy Hearns, Sugar Ray Robinson or Sugar Ray Leonard.

Cotto lost to two ATG's in Pacquiao, Mayweather, two fighters that Spence would certainly not beat. And Cotto actually gave Mayweather a very competitive fight aswell. Cotto's loss to Margarito which he revenged BTW has a huge asterisk over it which I won't go into.

And his other losses were at Jr Middleweight and Middleweight whilst being past his prime, and one of those losses was to a prime Canelo which he went 12 rounds.

Spence's best win is barely scrapping by Porter who is a B level Welterweight who's lost all his biggest fights. You sure do put alot of stock in two wins over Porter and Ugas.

Yet you dismiss wins over Clottey, Judah, Mosley, who are better than those two fighters by quite some margin.

Spence has not shown me as of yet he can beat a prime Cotto, and no barely beating Shawn Porter is not good evidence of that either.

I like Errol a lot and think he can and will do a lot in the sport, but Spence needs to fight some tougher competition before he's mentioned in the same sentence as Cotto. It's one thing to beat up 135ers who don't want to be in the ring with you, or 140 lb'ers who are old. Danny peaked in like 2014 right before he got his ass beat by Herrera. Porter is an also-ran. Kell was broken by GGG and just cashing in. Ugas is a guy a top level fighter should be beating convincingly.

By this same point in his career Cotto had held real world titles at 140, 147, 154 and 160. Spence's resume lacks for a 33 year old fighter who has been in the title picture for 6 years. A hallmark of this generation of fighting where guys don't want to take fights. Cotto wouldn't be scared to throw punches like Mikey, I'll tell you that, and all the guys Spence has fought--Cotto would beat them too and worse. Imagine Mikey Garcia taking a beating from Cotto. It wouldn't be a 12 round sparring session joke of a fight.

Cotto was too slick of a boxer to get caught with a long overhand left, and he would be jabbing better than Spence, and he would dig to the body better than Spence. He would probably knock Spence out, but it's hard to tell because Cotto challenged himself and we saw what he was made of and Spence is hiding out waiting for his big payday since all his previous PPVs have flopped horribly.

I'm not so sure that Spence would have lost to Mayweather or Pacquiao. They didn't dominate any welterweight as big, strong and fast as Spence.

You seem to be underestimating Porter. Porter is rough, tough and extremely unorthodox. He's hell to face. And he trained like a madman for the Spence fight. I don't think he put in that much work for Brook or Crawford. Brook was a good win for Spence also.

Of course I dismissed Cotto's wins over those fighters. They was far past their primes. Prime Mosely would have stopped Cotto. Judah could have UD'd him at his best. Clottey was just a rock hard punching bag imo.

Cotto was good but never elite.

Spence is very good. Pacquiao and Mayweather are elite, at its truest form. While Spence would never be an easy fight vs anyone it’s hard to pick him over a prime Manny or Floyd in my opinon
