I think that he would have been practically unbeatable at 140 pounds in prime physical condition.

I always thought that during his prime he would simply have stepped on Floyd jr. He probably wasn't ever as good as Roy Jones was however but hey not everyone can be the goat.

Strengths: Great power and hand speed. Strong chin and heart. In his prime (135) he was athletically gifted and couldn’t be out slugged.

Weakness: Can be outboxed, especially from fighters that were quick footed. Wasn’t great at making adjustments or have a Plan B.

Shane would sometimes do this thing with his gloves, sort of knead them together real fast, and then let fly. He was a bit too telegraphed and sometimes over-eager offensively.

What a fighter though! Fast, explosive, fearless - physically very strong. Always came in shape and looking to win.

Shane was an excellent finisher, like Roy Jones said "if Shane hurts you, he's gonna be on you".

Maybe one could mention his dad as a trainer as a weakness - I remember not thinking much of his between-round advice.

To add to weakness, always felt Mosley was a bit too herky/jerky, tense at times physically and wasted too much energy, which is part of the factor of him not being a "slick" boxer. He had the raw talent to be an absolute DOMINANT counterpuncher but i always felt he never had that elite mindset to out think guys. He overwhelmed his opponents with his physical gifts but just didn't have that truly elite counter game.

I agree to a large extent. Shane wasn't the most relaxed fighter in the world - maybe it was his coffee or something.

Hard to say with Mosely He was eventually proven to be a Peds abuser, after claiming he'd passed 2 lie detector tests showing his innocence, when BALCO bubbled him & he had to come clean. So how many times was he juiced up when he fought? Who knows. I personally believe he was juiced the night of the Margarito
debacle. but thats just my opinion. He was allowed to get away with his proven discretions though even when he had to finally confess he had cheated

His strengths, very strong and very fast in combination.

His weaknesses, a great jab often offsets his offense which made him very hesitant in fights with guys like Forest, Winky, dlh2 and with Vargas in the first fight.

He would get noticeably frustrated when things didn't go his way or he struggled.

His herky jerky style never suited the Sugar monicker since both Robinson and Leonard were more smooth with their movement. Shane Mosley did indeed use wasted motion that didn’t serve him well. He also never had great ring IQ despite his physical gifts even during his prime.

Still, even with his flaws he was still a great fighter and a credit to the sport.

His biggest strength was athleticism. As fast, strong, powerful and explosive fighter as you'll see. I think this made up for some weakness in boxing skill, IQ, adaptability
