On the one hand Wilder beat Don King's latest (and possibly last?) paper champion Bermane Stiverne and Duhpahas but on the other hand Tommy Morrison was in Rocky 5 and was John Wayne's distant relative. Going to have to go with the Duke on this one.

Morrison had to quit early and may have had a lot more in him but Wilder is still a notch above him.

Seven people voted for Morrison, and I am going to assume they're lounge regulars.

Tough to say to be honest.

Yes, Morrison had a few bad performances (like getting KO'd by Bennett in Rd 1) but he also fought Foreman, Lewis, and Mercer. He had good wins over Ruddock, Foreman, Williams, and Thomas. I'm pretty sure Wilder would have a couple of losses fighting that competition. People bring up the Bennett loss but Wilder was nearly KTFO by unheralded Sconiers.

For Wilder, he's had to face Fury (obviously his best opponent), Ortiz, and Arrerola? I'm not sure who the best third fighter he has faced. Fury beats Morrison 9 out of 10 times IMO. I'm not sure an old Ortiz and Arrerola beat Morrison.

I think Morrison could have the same record as Wilder facing his level of competition. In other words, I'm not sure who is better TBH. Morrison has the best singular win in Foreman, although I think I'd probably take Wilder over that version of Foreman, with Foreman having a punchers chance. It's closer than the poll indiciates IMO.

They don't even have the same case that they were champion, let alone is there any case for what they were doing in championship fights, which isn't vaguely close, if we want to talk not just total resume but focus on championship record. Again, even that is if we give WBO of that time the same credibility as WBC of WIlder's time. Which I wouldn't. Yes, it's true, neither guy was the premier guy as Luf might say for their time, and it's going to be consensus that Wilder wasn't when we look back on it when everyone is retired, I am sure. But Wilder's still standing on far firmer ground here, by a long distance. Morrison's Foreman win is credible and a standout performance for Tommy, but let's not let Foreman's name carry too much weight here. If you wanted to argue it was a better boxing performance than Wilder had and it was during a championship fight, okay, but I don't think it's fair to have that trump how much Wilder did during his title fights, should he do no more.

Say what you will about Wilder, but I don't recall him being anything other than a religious, decent guy who was never seen
in strip bars or partying with whores.

    Morrison, on the other hand.....

Except it isn't an apples to apples comparison because Morrison faced much harder competition. If you want to go with Wilder because of longevity or title defenses, fine. But there is no way Wilder would have been champion back in the early to mid 90s. It's possible Morrison has the same run as Wilder if you transport him and have him fight Wilder's competition, which is a fairly weak era outside of Fury and Usyk.

I think it's close, I guess you favor Wilder because he held the strap longer. But Wilder had a much easier time, as he's faced 1 HOF in his entire career while Morrison faced at least 3, two being ATGs.
