The only 70-30 split anyone should try to justify in a none title fight is, if the given boxer name is Huge, and can draw huge numbers without a need of a good opponent. Like Canelo, and AJ back in the day. But even they need titles for this.
So without titles, trying to pull 70-30 split is equal to a quck, quck duck.

Wait what?! Charles Martin is a former champ, does he deserve 50/50 in every fights he's involved in ?

Andy won the title in a huge upset and didn't manage to replicate his win. Lost the title he won the very next fight, and that was in 2019. Ever since then he fought twice against old Arreola and great grandfather Ortiz and you think he deserves 50/50 ?

Arreola is in a late career resurgence and looked better in that period when when he challenged vitali.

Ortiz has outboxed everyone he ever fought. He's an excellent boxer with good power and a southpaw. It was a hard fight but Ruiz dropped him 4 times. This whole someone has to look flawless in every win is why we have so many mismatches in boxing bc every time someone loses a few rounds or gets rocked people are saying they're garbage.

Ruiz won both these fights handily. Ruiz is not the fighter who is gonna steamroll over people. He has short arms and a fat body fighting a bunch of giants with thunderbolt hands. He should be praised for finding ways to win rather than dismissed because he had to work hard against a guy who makes everyone work hard and who had only been beaten by a top 3 guy in the era before that fight.

Ok, then what has Wilder done better than Ruiz? Won the title, defended against no bodies, ducked every good HW, then was demolished twice by the 21st Century version of Primo Carnera.

I said somewhere between 50/50 and 60/40 for Ruiz, then I made the point that Ruiz, being Hispanic, has a larger audience than Wilder.
It's all about the Benjamins. If I were managing Ruiz, I'd point out the PPV differences between Wilder (non-Fury) fights and Ruiz fights.
THEN make an offer. I actually have no idea as to the real numbers, but I'd bet Ruiz has better PPV or gate numbers than does Wilder in non-Fury fights. The Fury fights are outlier points as Fury has a big fan base.

Wait, what? Was Martin unified Champion? No! Who did Martin beat? Yeah, exactly no one!
Ruiz beat the man, who was on top of the sport and become Unified Champion.
Ruiz is also Mexican with big fans behind him.
    Simple as that.

Wilder last fight sold less than 75k. and this was his BIG RETURN. Tell me now, with what exactly WIlder is deserving a 70% ?
You can make a case for 70-30 being a fair split if Wilder was still a champion, on that i will agree.
But he is not. And he is not a big draw, and he simply needs a good opponent to draw a thing.

But we all know that Wilder never wanted this fight, he just using Ruiz as an excuse and will fight a bum, like his 99,99% of his resume.

    Fury/Ortiz 2 sold 225k PPVs; Ruiz/Ortiz sold 65k.

Based on those numbers, Wilder is well within his rights to ask for much more of a split. Ruiz has no business asking for 50/50. I think 60/40 would be okay, but truly I don't care. Just fight or don't. HW sucks right now.

Ok good figures there. I thought Ruiz would have draw more viewers but I think he lost a lot of fans with his non-effort vs AJ in their second fight. But you have to admit....225 ain't spectacular either!

Definitely, Wilder's non-Fury PPVs have been pretty modest. In fairness, that 225k was for a rematch and the Helenius fight was a bounceback. I think he will do better in his next destination fight but Wilder is not a PPV star by any means.

Ruiz/Ortiz was poorly promoted, but that's part of the issue. You can't really go big on those two guys, even though it was a pretty solid matchup. Ruiz seems equally delusional to Dillian Whyte, although at least in Ruiz's case he has a marquee victory.

Firstable Fury never fought Ortiz. Secondable Wilder was a Champion back then, he is not now. His last fight sold how many ? Less than 75K. and it was his BIG return.

And how much did Ortiz vs Wilder 1 sold ? Wilder barely got 1 million for the first Ortiz fight.
Also it's a different story comparing a guy with a title, and fighting unbeaten opponent and then rematch him, as he was getting outboxed and KO him, to the Ruiz vs Ortiz fight, comes 3 years later.

Still you are not talking about the big fight Wilder have with Helenius, and the 75K. PPV.

70-30 is a split that has been offered when one side has either a big draw power, neither have, or when one guy holds a title or more.
It's crystal clear that you are Wilder fan, and nothing wrong with that, but try to be a little bit objective.

And we both know the true, Wilder is doing typical Fury things, calling name and lowballing them, knowing they won't take the fight.

This fight was ordered at the of last year or so. Why has Wilder show ZERO interest in that fight, since now. Ruiz wanted the fight, but Wilder literally goes on retiring mode.
The truth is, and you knows it, he is going to fight a complete bum in September.
The truth is AJ is going to do the same.
But my problem with WIlder specifically is, he is trying to mug the fans and insult their intelligence.
If you are happy with your boy doing that to you, good on you, but i don't like someone trying to act smart, when i can see through his s****.

@lordlosh Wilder coming off consecutive KO defeats versus a B-side opponent like Helenius at $75 never was going to sell well. But it *still* outdid Ruiz vs Ortiz!! And Wilder has a track record of good PPV numbers in his marquee bouts, even the Ortiz rematch. I agree that his star has ebbed since then, but so has Ruiz's. ...

Wilder/Ruiz could be anything from 60/40 to 65/35 and I'd say that's normal. No way in hell is Ruiz getting 50% tho.

But he forget to mention Wilder did less than 75k. against Helenius, which is his return "big fight", which should have been a big draw, if Wilder was any power.

And he also forget to mention that Wilder - Ortiz was a title fight.
    Ortiz vs Ruiz was not.
Obviously title fights brings PPV. As a Helenius fight is a very good indicator of that.

Also Ortiz fought Wilder in 2019, and hasn't done a s**** since then. Obviously if Wilder was going to fight Ortiz with no belt on the line for the first time with Ortiz already have 2 loses, and being old a*** and wiped the floor by Charles Martin in his last fight, how much that would exactly sell?

Let's not also forget that the first fight with Ortiz, when Wilder was also a Champion, Wilder purse was just 1 million, which is pathetic.

Wilder was never a big draw, so anyone trying to excuse this lowball 70-30 is pulling some crazy s****.

Again 70-30 is a split when 1 of the guys is clearly a huge draw, like AJ was or similar to Canelo, but even they are draws with titles, or when obviously the one guy have title or multiple titles.

Or at least we are talking about Number 1 ranked fighters with someone outside of top 10.
Both are Number 1 and number 2.
This is a pure 50-50 fight. Make it 40-40 and the winners get the 20% rest.

@lordlosh You obviously have no idea how contracts work. I assure you, no rational person who understands them would expect Ruiz to get 50/50 versus Wilder.

If you want to argue 60/40 in favor of Wilder, okay. No problem. I agree 70/30 sounds high, but note Ruiz Sr said "around" 70/30 so it might be more like 68/42. Anything from 65/35 to 60/40 is okay; 50/50 isn't happening.

Which are the good PPV numbers for Wilder, exactly? Enlighten me buddy? Outside of Fury, and Ortiz 2. Tell me a single good Wilder numbers.
I can counter you that Ruiz both fights with AJ has done more PPV numbers than any Wilder fights combine.
Also i can counter you with Ruiz has done between 125-150k. PPV against Arreola.

How much did Wilder do against Arreola exactly ? Oh it wasn't even on PPV i forget ....

Yeah typical Wilder fans comments, just because it's Wilder, it's fine to get 70%.
But then somehow you claim that 55-45% should be a fair split between Wilder and Usyk.

Maybe it's you that has no idea how contract works.

Once again Wilder is no draw, you can try to excuse his s**** numbers however you like, he ain't a draw, he got no title, so he can't demand for the lion split.

70-30 is a typical mandatory or a title vs contender split.
You still living in the time where Wilder had title it's seems.
Your boy is not longer a champion.
He can't demand that split from a well known name in the division, who is also a Mexican and has big fanbase behind him.

If Wilder really wanted that fight, he would have tried to make it when WBC order it, aka last year. But Ruiz called him, and Wilders goes on hiding, and the only thing we heard from him, was him exploring his options.

Now suddenly he is acting as a tough dude, as always just his usual talk of fighting a high caliber opponent, lowballing him, and will fight a complete bum.
