Will Fury only be remembered as a guy that ducked Usyk?

I mean guy has 34 fights and has 2 notable wins, old Vladimir that is forgotten as now, and Wilder hack that was the thing 5 years ago. Few more years and that fights will be forgotten aswell, but that ducking of Usyk is above Bowe Lewis fight IMO.

Well it depends if he fights him or not, firstly. We had...let me check...65,000 threads exactly like this on Mayweather-Pacquiao in the years before they fought.

I think, in the end though, the Undertaker's recovery is what he will be most remembered for. Hard to be viral and giffed by something that doesn't happen. Historically, Dempsey is not only remembered for not fighting Wills, Bowe is not only remembered for not fighting Lewis, and nobody cares that Robinson didn't fight Burley. It all depends really but generally speaking, an absence is rarely what a fighter is remembered for.

    1. Out of Hrgovic threads ideas, so now you are on the Fury trend?
    2. Every big name is remembered differently, because of fans and anti-fans. Some examples:
    • Everybody talks about Evander's PEDs case, but it was never proven to be him. But even if he was, most of the fighters back then (and subsequently) were all on PEDs, which is the most normal thing in every professional sport since people started discovering doping.
    • Fans don't deny how great Frazier was, but don't mention often enough he was practically one-eyed for the majority of his career, which makes him even more remarkable.
    • People don't emphasize enough the fact that Wlad was (on PEDs and it was obvious) abusing the clinch with no sanctions. Or the fact he was probably even the dirtiest cheater ever, something Pulev talked about, but Fury proved.
How about remembering Fury with one of the greatest and most inspirational comebacks? Or cleaning the division out from Wlad? Denying even that is already some very low hating and intellectual point.

We all remember Greb despite never having seen him fight. So yes, unfortunately, Fury will be remembered.
As a liar, a cheat, a drunk, and a ducker. Among other things.

Oh yes, he defeated Sefer Seferi.

I believe he'll be remembered as I think of him now, highly overrated, and a poor heavyweight champion.

Yeah, it will likely overshadow his career since it's coming right near the end, unless he fixes it. It's ending on a sour note the way he's going.
The problem he has is that it wasn't like he didn't accept an unfair offer from an A-side or had some other good excuse not to fight, he was the guy who had the power to make fair terms and wouldn't do it, he was the one wanting too much. So it's going to look bad if it stays like this.

Nah, even if he and Usyk never fight there are still other things he'll be remembered for. For one thing, he ended Klitschko's long time at the top. I can't say for sure since I wasn't into boxing at the time, but I'm gonna guess during his hiatus the fact that he ended the Klitschko era was discussed just as often as him not doing the rematch. And now he's had a memorable trilogy with Wilder, one that saw him overcoming a vicious knockdown in the first fight, completely dominating the second and a third where they both knocked each other down.

So, yeah, if him and Usyk never fight it will definitely be remembered, but I don't think it will be the first thing that comes to most people's minds when you mention his name.

"Oh yes, he defeated Sefer Seferi."

And within 6 months he fought Wilder in America, which most thought was a very dangerous/borderline insane move at the time. There are few if any parallels in boxing history for taking on an opponent that dangerous coming off morbid obesity, drug abuse, alcoholism etc., as the away fighter, as the underdog and not being beaten.

    All true.

Mayweather-Pacquiao was pushed back five years, nine Pacquiao fights and two Pacquiao losses, one by stone-cold KO, yet in May 2015 it became the most lucrative boxing match ever and most boxing fans believe that Mayweather would have beaten Pacquiao in March 2010 regardless, when the fight was first theoretically supposed to happen.

He fought Wilder more than once and all the fights were notable as Wilder is a massive puncher and was in his prime.
