As somebody who is interested in a Canelo vs Benavidez fight and thinks Canelo smokes that kid I gotta ask, why are y’all so high on David? The man hasn’t beaten nobody good, has had opportunities and dropped the ball multiple times, his claim to fame is winning a vacant title and getting a Nickname by Tyson.
The man got no defense, no footwork, he not a super skilled boxer, he not fast or athletic he just big as he|| for the weight division.
It is just that people don’t like Canelo so now David the next guy they propping up? What am I missing

If Canelo is smoking Benavidez like you put it, Canelo wouldn't be ducking him.

Benavidez style is all wrong for Canelo. The last person that gave Canelo trouble was GGG and mind you GGG is what 10 years older then Canelo? Benavidez is younger then Canelo, bigger and stronger.

Canelo ducking by fighting better more accomplished fighters while Benavidez is fighting nobody?
Bro I’m not a GGG fan but he can actually box, David just a brawlers neither one of them guys styles is the same, and a counter puncher vs a come forward brawler seems more like David style is exactly the type of fighter Canelo KO’s..
You tell me tho what are all these skills he has?

i kind of view this as all of the fans who used to just pick bigger, aggressive pressure fighters to beat Floyd then complain afterwards

I think Canelo brings way more weapons to the fight and is the much better fighter, now he is slowing down a little which is making this closer and more interesting. I think Benavidez taps into the lizard brain of casuals who only like KO's and pressure fighters and sort of can be built up as the ultimate foil for Canelo haters so I think its a perfect storm of public opinion

I watched Plant who is nowhere near Canelo's level nullified Benavidez's offense for stretches of the fight and cut his offensive output significantly. I think I would like to see Benavidez get one more big win like Andrade or Morrel who can box and see how he does there. That said I see the frustration in Canelo facing Mell Charlo, Ryder, and the Turkish guy but not finding time for Benavidez: obviously I understand mandatory fights and such

I just am frustrated a little by the likes of Mall Charlo, Andrade and others begging for the Canelo fight but not facing each other to earn it however this does not excuse poor match choices from Canelo. I really do not like the Mell fight as he already had his tune up for the year. I'll be rooting for Jermell to do the impossible in there

Personally I don’t really trip on who Canelo fights as long as they top 5 and a champion I’m good, as far as Benavidez that makes some sense casual fans get caught up in KO’s don’t matter if you KOing bums or not. To me though I feel like you have to fight somebody good first.

There is something called the eye test, along with apponent result comparisons to gage how good a fighter seems to be. To me, what Benavidez did to Plant was more impressive than what Canelo did to him. He beat him up bad in the 2nd half. Benavidez vs Canelo is an excellent fight. Canelo would have to dig deep to get a victory over him. Nobody will be able to just walk over Benavidez.

i don’t know man eyes test only means something when you a prospect like 20/21 if you been in the game almost a decade and still talking about eye test and not actual results then you not really that guy to me.. as far as Benavidez vs plant I don’t see how that was more impressive Plant won the first 5/6 rounds of that fight and was out boxing tf out David until he gassed and even then a gassed out Plant still went the distance, the man couldn’t even figure out how to offset the clinch inversely Canelo outboxed out countered and KO’d plant. Personally just based off styles I think it’s a few guys at 168 who whoop Benavidez like Canelo or Morrell or considering David ducked last yr Andrade probably got a very good chance also. I guess for me I’ve seen enough hypejob eye test guys get beaten up the instant they step up, so I don’t really care of put much stock into it.. how it look don’t matter what did you do and who did you do it against. David hasn’t been in with a fighter that actually provides resistance he only been in with guys set up for him to look good

Taller, quicker, and throws combos. The last 2 things give Canelo fits. He will get out worked and exhausted if he can’t put him away in 7 rounds.

I don’t know about being quicker, age eventually catches up but Canelo has consistently been one of the fastest guys from 154-168,

My eyes told me Bivol was going to kick Canelo's a**. I was right, the experts were wrong. It also helped that Bivol dominated some very good fighters, former champs and contenders. I'm not saying I'm sure Benavidez is going to win, but remember, Canelo gets tired in the 2nd half of fights, while Benavidez gets stronger and stronger. Canelo isn't fighting the 154 lb Charlo because he's chomping at the bit to fight Benavidez.

I don't fully agree with your conclusions but you're absolutely right that DB taps into the lizard brain. He's got very fast hands for his size and throws fluid, pleasing to watch combinations.

He is absolutely wasting his gifts like his brother did but for the 30 seconds at a time that he puts it together it's beautiful.

He's not fast? What on earth....he throws combo's like lightweights, extremely heavy handed. Very very strong....Canelo would not smoke him.

Fought no one? He's 26 and already fought 3 former world champs in Plant, Dirrell & Lemiuex.....also beat J'Leon Love who's a good fighter.

Stop tarking rubbish. Benavidez ain't scared of no one, let's get this right....he will beat them all.

Bro I picked Bivol to win as well weight division exist for a reason, comparing Bivol to Benavidez is kinda crazy tho Bivol has beaten some real top notch guys Bivol is a skilled boxer Benavidez just a big brawler. As far as the Canelo fight I think he just don’t look at Benavidez like y’all fans do.
When you the most accomplished guy in the sport of boxing you not gonna be that excited to fight a glorified prospect if you look at resume. The man in 3 yrs went undisputed fought a top champ at 175, fought the unified champ from 160, and a top 5 rated mando after doing all that it makes since he look at this guys like go do something.

just because he throws a lot don’t mean he fast as far as hand speed or foot speed. As far as champions a old dirrell a washed up small 160 guy who wasn’t even good at 160, and Caleb plant who just got knocked out that ppl called a cherry pick for Canelo a yr earlier that’s not impressive especially when you been at the weight your whole career… maybe I just got higher standards but nah man the way y’all talk about him an that’s his career achievements.. guys like Haney or Teo don’t get half the hype and they’ve beaten real killers
