Per Mike Coppinger: Sources tell ESPN the Alvarez side was informed earlier this week that Jermall, who hasn’t competed in two years due to personal issues, wouldn’t be available.

People don't understand, Canelo is no longer a serious elite fighter, he is a high level exhibition fighter just looking to pick up easy money and glory. This just confirms it.

 

But it provides ready made excuses for the Jermell fangirls in here.

If he gets his head caved in by Canelo and then gets his head caved in by Tszyu the fangirls will claim that he wasn’t the same fighter and Tszyu got lucky.

Just like Harrison suddenly became “glass jaw” Harrison when he fought Tszyu but was a superstar when he beat Jermell.

Whatever Tszyu does, he can’t win. He’s too dangerous now and Jermell and others are scared of him but he hasn’t got the Charlo fight to get all the belts so has no leverage.

I actually don’t blame Jermell as this is a win-win for him. A much bigger payday and he either enhances his legacy by springing one of the biggest upsets in boxing history or he preserves his legacy with an honourable loss.

Had he fought and lost to Tszyu then his standing as some sort of superman would have been laid to waste in front of the boxing world.

And that’s why he took the Canelo fight. It’s the only way he guarantees a favourable outcome for himself. He’s ducking Tszyu but now has plausible deniability on that front.

 

Odd thing is that Canelo's "exhibition" opponents are considered legit opponents for anybody else.

 

Its called blatant ducking and pure fear of the Mexican Monster. Benavidez was not even In Canelos top 4.... Just think about that.

 

Exactly. Big brother revenge fight will be next, then Spence. Benavidez fight was always fantasy.

 

If Canelo and Benavidez keep winning, they're on a collision course. Spence fighting Canelo seems very unlikely. Many people are picking him to lose to Crawford. If Canelo beats Jermell, he'll probably fight Morrell or Benavidez next. I doubt Canelo would fight both Charlos back to back, Jermall would need to have a fight or two before he would be ready for Canelo.

 

They were already on a collision course for sept until canelo swerved the wheel and went after a 154 fighter. Thats after trying to get bivol, jack, jermall. Benavidez was not even top 4 on his list. Blatant ducking and fear you delusional fan boy.

What am I delusional about? I'm not claiming he was trying to fight Benavidez in September, he obviously wasn't. I'm saying if both keep winning the fight is inevitable so there's no issue with that fight not happening now. I'd rather see him fight Jermell because it's an exciting matchup and I've wanted to see that for some time, and this is the best time to make it. If Jermell fights Tszyu, or if Canelo fights Benavidez first, then this fight may never happen. It makes sense to do it now while both are Undisputed and coming off impressive wins. Lets face it, Tszyu is a big threat to Jermell and Benavidez is a big threat to Canelo. So why risk this fight when those fights can still happen down the road? If you know the buisness of boxing, you'd know it makes a lot of sense for this fight to happen next, then Jermell vs Tszyu / Canelo vs Benavidez or Morrell next.

You're predicting he'll fight both Charlos bacl to back, then Spence which seems highly unlikely. If he beats Jermell, I predict he'll fight either Benavidez or Morrell next, then possibly Jermall after. If you wanna talk about ducking, Bivol ducked the Canelo rematch and Benavidez is ducking Morrell. Lets see if Benavidez or Bivol fights anyone as good as Jermell Charlo in the meantime.

 

Jermell is a frigging inactive jnr MW, this fight is trash. Why would be choose that over the fight everyone is demanding in his own division? mexican vs mexican? Pure fear. That won't change. He has chased 6 fighters before Benavidez. Your boy is a coward.
