Will Fury only be remembered as a guy that ducked Usyk?

I still blane Floyd for avoiding Pac and think Pac would have had a way better chance to beat him in 2010. I always favoured Floyd but the win would have been way more meaningfull imo.

For Fury its a big black mark on his career for sure. Who wants to be known as the worst ducker in boxing history? He can still reduce it to floyd levels by fighting Usyk in the next year and beating him, but the clock is ticking.

He was on a great path during his comeback but ever since Wilder 3 he has beeb throwing it in the bin and exposing himself as an insecure fraud.

It’s one of the most shameful ducks in recent history and I can’t wait for him to retire and stop holding the belt hostage, he’s a disgrace

"He can still reduce it to floyd levels by fighting Usyk in the next year"

Floyd levels is 5+ years, 9 fights, 2 defeats and 1 cold KO. Granted Usyk and Pacquaio aren't at the exact same stage of their careers. But Fury-Usyk has only been feasible since April 2023 at the earliest, if not December 2023.

It's better to beat the opponent closer to his prime but there are other considerations, like maximising revenue and maximising chances of victory. And Floyd would say "I was further past my prime than he was". If Fury fought Usyk and lost, the legacy and commercial damage would be enormous. If he beat Usyk this year, next year or the year after that, he'd always have Usyk's name on his record regardless of hypotheticals. Fury might think "I would have beaten him 3.5 years ago but right now I'm further past his best than he is, but if we both age further and I take easier fights in the meantime then he'll slow down while I'll still be big".

"He was on a great path during his comeback but ever since Wilder 3"

It may be that Fury mentally checked out of boxing after Wilder 3. He's made a huge amount of money, won all of the belts, dethroned the two longest consecutive reigning heavyweight champions since Holmes, in their backyards, won a great trilogy. The motivation may not be what it was, especially combined with increasing age and wear. When you've been hugely successful and are still undefeated, every next fight is a bigger risk as you are effectively "doubling down". Fury may feel that he's given enough to the sport. Sooner or later something will have to give though; he'll either have to fight serious opponents or 1. people will lose interest 2. he'll get stripped.

Wilder, the guy who gets ragged on in here more than any other HW? The guy with poor footwork, no jab, only fought bums while champ, has no meaningful wins, ducked AJ, is ducking Ruiz? That guy?

    Ok.

Zzzzzz another hate on Fury thread.

His win vs. Wlad, even a past prime Wlad (who 1.5 years later gave an undefeated AJ a scare) AND trilogy vs. Wilder is much greater than whatever has held up a fight vs. Usyk. Neither Fury nor Usyk has retired. It still might happen.

Fury will remembered for dethroning Wlad, remaining unbeaten throughout his career and for unifying all the belts agasint Usyk.

Usyk will remembered as a legend whos bravery took him just one step too far. Honourable and proficiently skilled.

30% at Wembley is still waaaaay more than 6m against Dubious.

If Fury is remembered for one thing it will be as the guy who beat Wlad.

Why as a fan care about money though? Usyk atleast is trying to unify the division. He is way braver than Fury.
Fury has shown heart in fights. Its getting him into those fights that is the problem. Its a shame he doesnt believe in himself as much like some of his fans do.

I care about the money because it appears Usyk chose to walk away to fight Dubois for 6m, rather than unify for 30% at Wembley, and unification is all i wanted in truth. Lets face it, all Usyk did was demand 50% right off the bat, did not return any offers of his own, then chose Dubois over unification. Is that really "trying to unify"? Even when he "accepted 30%" he wanted the rematch with strings attached, and then when Fury later gave him the option of a rematch to Usyks very own liking, he ignored that offer completely.

I get the Saudis have made the top four tentative due to the enormous value of their deals, I'd do the same and wouldnt call it a duck aslong as they get in the ring eventually. But saying Usyk was trying to unify doesnt really make any sense. Not this year anyway. He wants the Saudi money just as much as anyone else, and is equally to blame. They're all at it, and if the Saudis hadnt come along, we'd of had unification by now (my unvaluable opinion, ofcourse).

The Arabs ruined this year for the HWs. And I am in no way defending Furys greed, he was just as bad as the rest.

If Fury has done nothing memorable in the eyes of some fans I understand why sportsmen would rather participate in other sports. Fighters who put their lifes on the line shamefully gets **** on…

I was a fan of Fury but all the bullahit has ground me down ,yes he beat Wlad & Wilder but unless he beats Usyk then for me he will not be considered an ATG . Boxing is fast becoming a joke of a sport and to tell the truth I'm not arsed one way or the other if i see him fight again , Usyk , Wilder, Joshua , Fury ALL need to get outta the sport and quit holding it hostage . Time Wasters .

Yes. Fury will be remembered as the winner of the most boring heavyweight title fight in history.
