How much of a handicap would there need to be for Rademacher to beat a prime Ali?

Maybe if Muhammad did n't turn up so Pete would be awarded the victory by default.

 

I’m not even sure Rademacher would beat 2016 Ali let alone 1966 Ali

 

I really think Ali needs to lose a body part like a leg for Pete to stay a chance at winning. Perhaps toss a arm in as well as I can see Ali hop his way to victory.

 

Pete was really not half as bad as this thread makes him out to be.

 

In his amateur career, Rademacher won 72 bouts and lost 7. He won a series of tournaments, including the 1949 and 1951–1953 Seattle Golden Gloves (he lost in 1950 to Zora Folley, who was his frequent opponent throughout his boxing career), and the US Amateur Championship as a heavyweight in 1953—avenging his earlier loss to Folley.

He captured the Chicago Golden Gloves, the All-Army championship, and the Service championship in 1956, before qualifying for the Olympic team. At the Olympics he captured a gold medal in the heavyweight division and served as the U.S. flag bearer at the closing ceremony.[2]

 

How about Clay vs Rademacher both in their first pro bouts.?

 

Another Lewiston Maine fight for Muhammad Ali, he just looks at Pete Rademacher and it is over. Ha Ha

 

The hypothetical condition was/is a prime Ali.

1) Pete could do with the judges from the third Norton fight but they have to be conversely just as biased toward Pete in their scoring.

2) The 3 KD rule should be in force.

If Ali knocks Pete down 3 times, not just in any given round but in total over the whole fight - Ali forfeits the match.

This confines Ali to just 2 KDs, and either the 1st or 2nd KD has to be for keeps for Ali to win by KO.

If Pete arises from a second KD, Ali has to box it out to a decision - no more KDs allowed.

If he puts Pete down a 3rd time, even if Pete is out for all money, Ali still loses.

3) Pete has the best available boxing brains and corner on his side, including a ship jumping savvy Dundee and prime motivator Bundini Brown. Ali isn’t allowed anyone in corner - just Muhammad all on his lonesome.

4) Pete can say whatever he likes, including referring to Ali by his old name, but Ali is forbidden to speak at all, starting 2 weeks prior to the bout and during the whole fight. There’s no accounting for the detrimental effects this might have on the gabbiest HW Champ ever.

Otherwise, Best of Luck Pete, you will need it.

So, even though Ali is always just a head during the fight, from first to last bell, he still only manages a draw? To be sure, I’m finding that hard to compute.

 

I think even Doctor Hfuhruhurr might have a good chance vs Pete.

 

Maybe if Ali had food poisoning.

But I’m not talking about a bad serving of fish … more like a couple of buckets of hemlock laced with cyanide.

 

Ha! And, I’ll just add, even though she was just some Scum Queen, prime Kathleen Turned was smokin’ hot!

 

Ok firstly I don’t believe Pete was anywhere near as bad as some folk believe. He was one of only 3 people to defeat “KO King” (haha) Lamar Clark, after all. One of the others to defeat Clark…one (very, very green) Cassius Clay as he was back then. Plus they both KD Floyd Patterson! You see…they have something in common right off the bat. So with the following handicaps against Ali that I’ve added, there is no way Pete will lose this fight. In fact, I think he would win it convincingly….EDIT: Oh I just noticed that this is 0-0 Rademacher, so he had not yet beaten Lamar Clark nor had he kd Floyd Patterson.
But the handicaps should still be enough…

1. The judges would all have to be Pete’s family members. This of course would only matter if:
a. Pete lasts the distance.
b. Pete’s family members actually cared for him.

2. Ali has to eat a huge meal of pasta and meatballs, washed down by 4 pints of beer immediately before the fight. (Ali was no Tony Galento stomach-wise.)

3. Ali has to wear extremely heavy work boots, so if he’s expecting to run rings around Pete, he’d better think again.

4. Pete is allowed to have a count of 60 seconds if he’s knocked down instead of the regulation 10.

And finally…

5 If Ali is by some miracle knocked down, or slips accidentally on a strategically dropped puddle of water, or trips because of his big heavy work boots, the fight is done with no count, with Pete declared the winner immediately. No ifs, buts or maybes, the fight is over, regardless of how Ali hits the deck.

Ali would literally need to be handicapped mentally for Pete to win.

Maybe Rademacher goes the distance with Downs Syndrome Ali or gets a draw with cerebral palsy Ali.

 

Don't go gettin' Crazy now! Ali needs something to move him around!
Also how would you even decide when the head is down?
It gets knocked outta the jar? Ends up on its side?

Nah Ali would need a single leg to stand on & hop around, + one arm to punch & block.
