I saw Smith vs Beterbiev live in NYC and the crowd was cheering for Beterbiev!

I'm pretty invested in the Boston vs NY sports rivalry but I had to cheer for Smith because it was killing me to see this guy get no love whatsoever in his own hometown.

It's not like it was a ton of Brighton Beach Russians in the building either, everyone was just cheering for the bigger name no matter who the hometown guy was.

    Seriously messed up.

I was a big Teofimo fan but he's lost me with what he's said and his performances. Up until the GKJ fight he was bombastic and rude but he was a young fighter who was taking the craft seriously and had athletic gifts to go a good distance. Plus the antics could be funny.

But then he got into this whole paranoid racial thing. The world has plenty of that, we don't need a boxer to add to it. Plus he got the whole sport handed to him on a silver platter, what does he have to complain about? Black fighters had nothing to do with why he choked against GKJ.

Guys with very little promotional backing almost always try to unify immediately. Look at all the Indongos and Postols of the world. Occasionally one will have a voluntary fight in their hometown first like Kambosos but all these big promoters are throwing life changing money at these guys so their fighter can pick up a belt and hold onto it for dear life.

i understand that part about it
    I dislike his personality myself,
He is a pos just like his pops.
But that doesn’t diminish his skill set in the ring.

he beat Loma to becom lineal champ
& did it again the next weight class up against Josh Taylor & made it look easy.
    That’s impressive.

if we consider the hated(disliked) / loved(liked) ratio, A. Ward is the GOAT and recently Teofimo looks like he would do anything for that spot.

He is speaking his mind and you might not like it.The man is man enough to say what most are afraid to say. That’s what i gathered from that interview. I have to look into that interview if it was racial.Teofimo is a heck of a talent at 25 yrs old.

Ohhh! , good call on Pedroza. I recently watched his fight with LaPorte and he threw more elbows than a pitcher throws fastballs.

Well some of these are not always hated but just not fan favorites cause they are generally boring. It's a tradeoff. Nobody likes the guys that waits on the other guy to throw first, runs and plays defense, more than the guy who make the fight happens. If all fighters waited on the other one boxing or any combat sport would be dead. Thanks to those braver fighters boring dudes like Floyd can make a living.

Boxing has been part of my life forever I hate to see it dragged down like it has been by Floyd, Canelo etc & the blatant "help" both legal & illegal both have received among others. This is NOT the boxing I love.
So youre happy just accepting the way it is huh ? The criteria today is Its not just your talent that brings you success as much as it is Who you know that will back you & protect you. I know corruption has always been part of the game but NEVER this blatant. Look at some of the absolutely ludicrous judges cards that have been entered & what was done about it SWEET FANNY ADAMS Some boxers have gotten away with blatantly cheating while others had their boxing licenses taken away because the commission SUSPECTED they MIGHT have tried to cheat.. Is that how you want the sport to be run ?? Not for me my friend.

embarrassed by roy jones in what? Think you should go back and rewatch that fight. Check the last 4 rounds when jones was gassed and on the ropes. There was no embarassment in the fight period. just a learning experience. Shoulda pressed from round 1. Why do you think jones moved right up and took over a decade to rematch him? hahaha

wards olympic run was alltime. I saw him at the 98 blue and gold get mauled by jesus el martillo gonzalez and hes been unbeaten since. I didnt like the low blows vs kov but at the same right, kov shoulda gone low right back. Its his own fault. You gotta get the refs attention by immediately going low back. Look at matysse vs danny g, same ****. Danny g threw 20 plus low blows. If both mattysse and kov go low immediately the outcome is prob diff.

I think he actually has decent pop. Shuichiro is a tough guy and he dropped him a couple of times. In his two fights before that that he dropped both Valdez and Conceicao. He isn't a good finisher or a one punch KO artist, but he definitely isn't a feather-fist.
