    Ah 23 ok cool ty.

With the current HW situation, by the time Anderson is ready for a title shot, he may not have to be all that good to win lol. That's IF he can work his way up to a title shot, he's got time.

Doesn't seem to be a hard thing to do these days, getting in position to fight the "champ". I think Anderson is already in the top ten? And he's beaten absolutely no one.

Maybe but he does have time to improve. Canelo was 23 when he lost to Mayweather and went on to become a much better, more skilled fighter. Not saying Martin is like Mayweather here, lol, but Anderson has the potential to improve.

Question is will he? That's what separates the prospects that get exposed and the prospects that go onto become elite level. It's not where your journey begins it's where it ends.

Joshua struggled with Whyte early in his career and learned from that and became a better fighter. Parker struggled with Takam and didn't learn from that. At such an early point in a young fighters career anything is possible. Anderson has talent but talent only takes you so far, question is does he have the mindset the discipline and desire to put the work in every day in the gym to evolve.

His next few fights will be telling, will we see any changes or will he just be the same old Anderson. Chances are it's the latter as we've seen with Dubois and Makhmudov in recent fights they haven't evolved and that's the case with most prospects after their first testing fight. It takes a rare mindset for a fighter to evolve and grow and not just simply rely on what has always worked before.

    First post-
Enjoy the fights a lot and struggled a bit to find some solid forums where there was decent activity. This seems like a solid spot.
For the main event tonight…I’ve been watching Anderson for a bit and agree that many of us saw this coming with him in terms of a lot of early round KO’s and maybe even some trouble until his d gets a bit more polished. But, he showed he’s got a bit of a chin anyhow and overall did what he had to outside of one round where it got mighty interesting. So much of the “human interest” element to the broadcast was Jared specifically noting that he really only plans to do this for another 4 years or so. While completely different in approach and like social media folllowing, it reminds me of Garcia who says the same thing. A new generation of fighter who wants to maximize the purses where they can in their 20’s, but ultimately get the hell out while they’re young. It’ll be interesting to see that strategy in the heavy’s where, moreso than most divisions even today, fighters are SUPER careful about the fights they take. But hell even he is giving himself another 4 or so. I’m pulling for him as a guy that would love to see another American Heavy have that (pipedream maybe) of unifying belts and elevating the interest in the sport/division. Is he the guy to do it? Tonight wasn’t a ringing endorsement. But he’s got the tools. Let’s see who his team books next. I for one enjoyed the fight a lot. Best to all, happy to be on board and talk fights.

Agree with most of this! The real question, as you pointed out, is whether Anderson will work hard as he is young and has plenty of time. It's to his benefit to be fighting in this era, doesn't take much to get a shot at the belt/belt

    Welcome Punisherfan87!

Joshua wasn't much older than Anderson when he made Charles Martin tap out in 2 rounds.

He's young enough to improve but imo he may go from being Charles Martin level (which is what he is now) to a fringe contender. I just dont think his ceiling is very high.

    What's so funny?

AJ struggled with Franklin, would probably lose to this version of Charles Martin.

    Anderson still knocks him out.

I suspect you are right, the odds are against him. He's like a lot of the young US amateurs coming out of the system right now, he really doesn't stand out beyond his speed and jab. He's got solid fundamentals but the harder skills to learn like lateral movement, counter punching, clinching, framing, etc he doesn't have and he's not so outrageously talented to succeed on sheer athleticism alone.

Weren't you the one who predicted Martin was going to KO Joshua anyway, in their first fight?

AJ displayed far more power v Martin than Jared did and had a better amateur background than Jared too.

Yeah, the totally unproven and untested Charles Martin, therefore none of us knew his vulnerabilities. At least I went all in on the trolling. St. Louis Spare Rib thread and all. That was still more plausible than Anderson KOing Joshua. Regardless, I was right about Joshua, he was an overrated glass jawed hypejob, and I'll be right about Anderson, at least AJ has solid fundamentals and legit power to fall back on, unlike this big dummy.
