they don’t, but his amateur gym was in wolves. Closest decent size venue to Darlaston is the civic. Summers lives in Wombourne, but originally from Tipton I believe, so makes sense to stage it there.

 

True dont think they use Walsall town hall anymore anyway for boxing shame seen James Beech and Martin Gethin in some good fights there in the past.

 

He probably knows it could be a while before he gets decent fights so trying to make a name for himself (one way or another). When his promotional contract is up for renewal he needs some value beyond an unbeaten record and a few knockouts.

The general thrust of the article is that UK women's boxing is under-served by the media and the paying public. Download the Sky Sports app and you're met with a picture of Savannah Marshall and there are female commentators on pretty much every UK show now. Arguably it gets far more coverage than it deserves and if it wasn't for taxpayers money funding olympians alongside a bit of box-ticking from TV companies, it wouldn't get any.

 

Marshall joins Jonas and Harper as fighters who couldn’t beat the best in their division so moved to a crap one to cherry pick belts off terrible fighters.

 

And yet according to the BBC, Marshall "cleaned up the division" - in one fight!

 

Did you see her last fight? swinging for the fences like someone outside a pub on a saturday night she is the best of a very bad bunch in womens boxing.
Its extremely poor its either mis matches or 10 rounds without a knockdown or ko borefests.

 

No, she started at super middle but got ducked for a title figt with Dezurn, she then tried to challenge for the light heavy title but her opponent pulled out of a planned fight so she went down to middle, she`s obviously too tall for middleweight you can see that.

 

It`s because Dezun kept lunging forward and grabbing her constantly.

 

There`s nobody else in that division and she just beat the champ.

Oh come on... there's a difference between factually correct and common sense here.

You can't "clean up a division" in one fight - it's hyperbole masking the fact the division, and most of the women's sport, is rank rotten.

 

I thought she was fairly decent against Marshall last year, but the standard is shocking I completely agree. She was also offered a million dollars to box Laila Ali a few years ago (a purse she has never earn’t or got close to) and crapped herself and said no. She’s full of it.

 

Ali is 45 and never fought an opponent as good as Savannah.
