Benn refused to present evidence for 9 months and now they think they've finally found a loophole they're trying to turn the tables. Hearn was posting pictures of negative Benn tests from June 2023 yesterday... where are the July and August 2022 ones?
'Rene' and that GP remind me of those World Health Organisation creeps who said during Covid how racist it was to suggest the virus had escaped from a Chinese lab. The Hen is a spoilt obnoxious brat who is squealing like a pig because he got caught cheating. The sooner he's officially banned for a 2 year minimum the better. He makes me nauseous.
He should be presenting this 'evidence' to VADA as well, it has implications for other athletes testing positive for the same substance.
This argument sounds like more than a loophole - as a non-scientist, the argument sounds credible. A meaningful engagement between his new representatives and UKAD should now ensue to work out how relevant it is to his case. This is exactly what Benn and his team should have done in the weeks after the negative test. Stayed in the background and allowed credible people speak on his behalf. Telling the Board to do one - and having his promoter continually float the idea of him imminently fighting offshore - aren't working in his favour. If Benn and his people have any sense they'll encourage Hearn to keep quiet on that front until his case is sorted.
Agree, they sound credible enough. I find it hard to believe that the global testing authorities hadn't heard of this Clomifene report mentioned by the doctor though, especially since it's from 2022, and wouldn't have made adjustments in their testing to cover that. You could take a harsh view and say that doctors have found a report to support their narrative; there may well be others debunking it for all we know. I believe this is the report in question: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S000326702200232X?via=ihub It's part-funded by WADA so it wouldn't be a surprise to any competent testing body; the report itself doesn't say how many volunteers took part or if its been peer-reviewed for accuracy so I don't think it's quite the smoking gun just yet.
People make rash decisions when they are desperate. He clearly feels that Benn will be a huge star. The fact they are talking about Wembley for this Eubank fight tells us that.
Case will be heard next week and we should expect to see a sports resolution verdict a couple of weeks after that.
This is the acid test for the sport. This is when we find out if it has any credibility at all or is rotten through to the core
Considering how long it took UKAD to go through Amir Khan's case and come up with a verdict, I'd be surprised if they have a definitive answer by next week for Benn. The 'new evidence' will surely have to be inspected by independent experts and then there's the legal side of everything, and the fact this has implications for the way VADA and UKAD perform their tests. The one thing that annoyed me about his new team's interview on Talk Sport was the opening statement about how hard it's been for Connor and how difficult his life has been. The sub-text of course is "common everyone he's had his punishment let's just let him fight"
Smart Money is on a whitewash with Benn allowed to fight. The Tyson Fury case set a dangerous precedent and the outcome is anything goes now due to costly prolonged legal disputes. I think myself that on failing a test, the fighter is suspended immediately and should attend a hearing within 8 weeks providing all evidence and/or mitigation. The case is heard and he is either banned or free to fight. The current process is nonsense.
